The FDA issued new guidance today aimed at promoting the development of generic abuse-deterrent opioids. Such abuse-deterrent painkillers are designed to be more difficult to manipulate and abuse. The guidance is part of a larger effort by the FDA to expand access to treatment and reduce exposure to addictive opioids.
