Ask Congress to Prevent Deep Medicare Cuts in 2021

Ask Congress to prevent deep Medicare cuts in 2021!

APA has joined several other organizations in calling for waiving Medicare’s budget neutrality requirements for implementation of new evaluation and management codes that will cause steep cuts in Medicare payment rates for services in 2021. Unless Congress takes action, changes in Medicare payments for routine physician visits will trigger sharp reductions in payments for psychologists’ services. Psychologists and many other healthcare specialists will face steep cuts in Medicare...

APAGS members & friends of APAGS,

The APA Council of Representatives will vote tomorrow on whether to send the APAGS graduate student voting privileges item to the full APA membership. This item, which would allow graduate student affiliate members of the APA to vote in all APA matters after one year of membership, will be discussed (virtually) on the Council floor tomorrow (August 6) at approximately 11:30am EST.

If you'd like to see your Council representatives in action, come back tomorrow and we will post a link where you can view a live stream of the discussion.

A special thank you goes out to the APAGS 2020 Executive Committee (Roseann Fish Getchell, Blanka Angyal, and Mary Fernandes) for their tireless dedication and advocacy in moving this item forward and to all of the other APAGS leaders and allies that have provided support and advice along the way.

Psychology Day at the UN

With psychologists on the front lines of the mental health crisis spurred by COVID-19, it’s more important than ever to recognize each other and the field’s value to society. On Wednesday, May 27, psychologists are celebrating Psychology Day in their own settings, on social media using the hashtags #PsychologyDay2020 and #PsychDayUN2020, and through the United Nations Psychology Day virtual event.

Psychology Day at the United Nations is a celebration of psychology in the context of the United Nations. It provides an opportunity for psychology to share with U.N. Permanent Missions, U.N. agencies, NGOs and the private sector the activities of psychologists at the U.N. and the role of psychology...
