Remembering 9/11 | Marine Week Charlotte
Today, we remember all the lives lost on 9/11.
During Marine Week Charlotte we commemorated 9/11 by climbing 110 stories with Charlotteans, the Charlotte Fire Department, and service members.

Join us in a remembrance ceremony that incorporates a reading of the timeline of the events on 9/11, speakers, a 21-gun salute and a wreath laying.
Hero of the Day | SSgt. Thomas Dudley
Hero of the Day
Today, we honored Staff Sgt. Thomas Dudley at a wreath laying ceremony at the UNC Charlotte Center City Campus Garden.
Dudley paid the ultimate sacrifice while conducting combat operations in Afghanistan, 2011. His wife, Mary Dudley, speaks about how much he enjoyed contributing to his country.

Hero of the Day
Today, we honored Charlotte native, Lance Cpl. Nicholas O'Brien, at a wreath laying ceremony.
He paid the ultimate sacrifice while clearing a safe walking path for his Marines in Sangin, Afghanistan in 2011. His father, Richard O'Brien, speaks about what the Marine Corps meant to him.

Helping Hands | Building a Park
Today, Marines worked with Mecklenburg County Government workers to build a park in Huntingtowne Farms.

A Noble Sacrifice
Charlotte native, Lance Cpl. Noah Pier, paid the ultimate sacrifice. He was killed in action while supporting combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan in 2010. His mother, Vikki Pier, speaks about what her son's service meant to her.

Local Charlottean, Gunnery Sgt. Christopher Eckard, paid the ultimate sacrifice. He served many combat deployments and was killed in action while conducting explosive ordnance disposal operations in Afghanistan in 2010. His mother, Eunice EcKard, speaks about what it meant to him to be a Marine.
