⚠️ Community Update

We received numerous calls this morning regarding a loud explosion and temporary power outage in parts of the city.

The outage was caused by a tree limb falling onto a power line, which resulted in a blown fuse. Utility crews responded quickly, and power has now been fully restored.

Everything is back to normal, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and concern while the issue was being addressed. Thank you to our electric department for their prompt response!

I'd like to introduce the newest member of the City of Washington team, Jesse Brown, who has joined us as our new Class 1 Water & Wastewater Plant Operator!

As a Class 1 operator, Jesse possesses the knowledge and technical expertise necessary to help ensure our community's water and wastewater systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with state and federal regulations. His training includes monitoring and maintaining treatment equipment, conducting water quality testing, troubleshooting operational issues, maintaining accurate regulatory records, and helping protect public health through the delivery of clean drinking water and responsible wastewater treatment.

Jesse's role is essential to the daily operations that many residents never see but rely on every day. From monitoring treatment processes to maintaining system performance and environmental compliance, his work helps ensure that the City of Washington continues to provide dependable utility services to our citizens.

Please join us in welcoming Jesse to the City of Washington family. We are excited to have him on board and look forward to the expertise, professionalism, and dedication he will bring to our Water & Wastewater Department.

April brings more than 10 years of progressive leadership experience in warehouse operations, logistics management, inventory control, and team supervision within high-volume manufacturing environments. April’s experience in logistics coordination, operational reporting, inventory management, and process standardization makes her an excellent addition to the City of Washington team. Power poles are being updated.
