Rotary Club of Washington, Indiana

Rotary Club of Washington, Indiana For over 100 years, we've been a proud part of this community and of Rotary International, a global network of more than 1.2 million members.

We have different backgrounds and perspectives but share a desire to improve our community and our world. The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
1. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity to serve
2. High ethical standard in business and profession, the recognition of the worthiness

of all useful occupations, and the dignifying by each Rotarian of his occupation as an opportunity to serve society
3. The application of the ideal of service by every Rotarian to his personal, business and community life.
4. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peach through a world fellowship of business and professional men noted in the ideal of service. The Four-Way test of the things we think, say or do….
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

At today’s Club meeting, Rotarian Haley Liming arranged an informative program featuring Andrea M. Preston, Director of the Daviess and Martin County Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). Andrea shared the history and impact of RSVP and highlighted the many ways the organization coordinates volunteer efforts throughout our community.

Founded by the federal government in 1973, our local RSVP became an independent local nonprofit organization in 1989. Since then, it has helped connect countless individuals with meaningful service opportunities while supporting local agencies in finding dedicated volunteers.

In 2025 alone, she reported that RSVP volunteers served 34 agencies across the area, contributing an incredible 73,850 volunteer hours — she added that this represented an estimated community value of more than $2.5 million!

Thank you, Andrea and the RSVP Board, for your dedication and all you do to strengthen our community through service.

We also want to thank Bobe’s for the great meal and for continually hosting our weekly Club meetings!!

What makes a good life? 🤔

For nearly 90 years, researchers from the Harvard Second Generation Study have followed the lives of more than 700 people to better understand health, happiness, and human connection. Their conclusion? It’s not wealth or status that matters most. It’s relationships.

Dr. Marc Schulz shares how strong social connections can improve our well-being. One way to build those connections? Volunteering alongside others in your community.

Discover why investing in relationships may be one of the most important things we can do for our health and our communities.
