Harpy Eagle: The Rainforestâs Apex Bird of Prey
The harpy eagle is one of the worldâs largest and most powerful birds of prey, ruling the canopies of Central and South American rainforests. With striking blackâandâwhite plumage, it hunts large mammalsâincluding monkeys, sloths, capybaras, and foxesâusing talons that can reach 5 inches long (more than double the length of a grizzly bearâs claws).
An apex predator, it plays a critical role in balancing rainforest ecosystems.
Would you dare look up if you heard its call in the jungle?
