The lights are on…
To my knowledge, this house has not had power on for nearly forty years. Last month Donald Gray and Brandon Richardson stopped by to take a good look at the backyard and driveway. There was simply no easy way to get around back to hook up the juice. Trea Magee had the panel ready and I had been out there with Robert Martin to remove as many junk trees as I could…turns out I like chainsaws… who knew?
It was decided that we remove a very large oak tree next to my driveway and an even larger pine in JC’s yard out back. The poles were ancient and Brandon really wanted to upgrade everything. He said it has always been problematic out there…JC was so kind to let the city dump 8 loads of topsoil into the back corner of his property so they could create a ramp to get all the equipment down onto that side…. THANK YOU BRO!!
Brandon and crew spent that week bringing those trees down and the old poles… the new poles went in and then they hooked the power up for our house, JC’s house, Brett’s to my left and the Presbyterian parsonage house next door to the right.
When they flipped that fuse casing together way up there in that pole… it exploded. I think they troubleshooted through another 6 or 7 fuses, unhooking one house, then the next… etc. Finally we discovered a defect in my service panel from the factory. Trea Magee showed up, and eliminated that issue… cross your fingers… take a deep breath… Eureka!! IT’S ALIVE!!!
Those guys worked hard…. emphasis on hard… It’s dangerous work. Here are some of the photos from that last day. I had a great one of Trea Magee, but when he saw me snap it he assured me it would not go well if I posted it (there are some sentences between friends that are just to good to print)…
We are pretty blessed to have guys like these looking after our town…
Thank you indeed to Brandon and Michael Richardson, Shed Castle, Hunter Moore, Robby Leard, Trea and Judd Magee and crew…. and of course, Donald Gray. Gentlemen, forgive me for any mis-spellings in your names if there are some…
