The City of Watkins is accepting applications for lifeguards for the 2026 pool season. Candidates must be able to pass an American Red Cross Certification class. Minimum age is 15 years. The city will pay for certification training by reimbursing one half of the cost after the 1st season and one half after the 2nd season. Hours include nights and weekends. Pays $15.25 to $17 per hour. Applications can be picked up at City Hall, 111 Central Avenue South, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or by calling 320-764-6400.

Swim lessons generally run Mon-Thurs. throughout the summer. Pays $15.25 to $17 per hour. Pays $11.50 to $13 per hour. Applications can be picked up at City Hall, 111 Central Avenue South, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or by calling 320-764-6400.

The City is done plowing for the day. Plowing will start again 5am tomorrow morning. Please have your vehicles off the street so the plows can safely get the streets cleaned. Thank you

ATTENTION ALL CITY RESIDENTS: A WINTER STORM WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED STARTING MARCH 14TH. A SNOW EMERGENCY WILL BE DECLARED AFTER A 2-INCH SNOWFALL. ALL VEHICLES MUST BE OFF THE STREETS OR THEY WILL BE TOWED.

The City of Watkins is declaring a Snow Emergency until 12:00pm Monday afternoon. Please get all vehicles off the streets so plowing can commence unhindered. Vehicles left on the streets are subject to being towed.

There is still a year left on this!!! There are 3-4 open spots yet for businesses in the Central Business District!! Click on the link above or come to City Hall to get info. There are also 7 spots left on the residential side of this loan. UCAP has people that will help you with the paperwork. This is a grant to the city from the State of Minnesota. What doesn't get used will get sent back.

Thanks to support from CenterPoint Energy, the Watkins Fire Department received a Community Safety Grant to support the purchase of Structural Turnout Firefighter Gear. This grant will enable our fire department to update some of its aging turnout gear. We appreciate the positive benefit this will have for our community!
