The May 19th election has been certified. Now on to June 16th!

Beginning last Thursday, county election officials in all of Georgia’s 159 counties hand counted randomly selected ballots as part of the statewide audit of the May 19th General Primary and Nonpartisan General Election. The purpose of the audit was to confirm the accuracy of the results for the Republican US Senate and Democratic Governor’s races. This was the first time two races were selected for the statewide Risk Limiting Audit (RLA).

A risk limit of 5% was set for the risk limiting audit (RLA), a limit that is among the best in the country for jurisdictions that conduct RLAs.

Secretary Raffensperger is pleased to announce that the audit confirmed the outcome of the contests.

If you weren't with us last night you missed a great meeting !

Over 150 people from 17 counties met at the Thomas Cotton Gin for our RETURN TO THE STUMP which featured candidates from five of the seven runoff races which will appear on the ballot in Oconee County starting next Monday, June 8th.

Huge thank yous go to the 17 GOP parties in the 10th district who assisted with promoting the event. We also want to thank the good folks at the Thomas Cotton Gin for their hospitality (they do an awesome job) and to Tim Bryant, Georgia Morning News, who graciously agrees to moderate all our Candidate Forums.

Special thanks to State Rep Houston Gaines for dropping by to say hello; it was a pleasure being able to introduce him as the GOP nominee for the 10th Congressional seat.

A candidate forum would be nothing without the candidates, and on such short notice our Vice Chair, Colby Baker, rounded up as many as he could in 12 days to put together this event.

And of course a forum would not be possible without a great audience like we had last night. Thank you all for making the journey to Oconee County, enduring through the heat and being an attentive audience ready to vote in our Straw Poll.

We hope you will make your voting plan and use the options available to you toady. If vacation may preclude you from being here on Election Day you can request an absentee ballot (deadline for that is Friday, June 5th) or plan on coming to the Oconee County Administrative Building and voting during Advance Voting (Monday, June 8th through Friday, June 12th) from 8am to 5pm each day. The lines are usually short and you can be in an out in under 10 minutes. Or, for the purists in the group you can travel to your local voting precinct on Election Day, Tuesday, June 16th - polls will be open from 7am to 7pm. Please try not to wait until 6:50pm to show up at a polling place - they will of course be glad to assist you, but if there are 100's in line ahead of you there will be a wait.

Make Your Plan to Vote today!

Doug McKillip for State Senate
