🐟 FALL FISH FRY! 🐟

Come hungry and leave happy! This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with neighbors, meet local candidates, and enjoy a classic fish fry in beautiful Waverly City Park. Whether you're a longtime supporter or just curious about getting involved, everyone is welcome!

Bring your family, bring your friends, and bring your appetite! We'll have plenty of food, fun conversations, and maybe even some live music to make it a memorable evening.

Hello fellow Young Democrats!

I’m so stoked about the next meeting that I wanted to go ahead and make this post so that can save the date. 💙

J. Nathan Higdon, Tennessee Democratic Party Vice Chair, will be visiting us to discuss how Humphreys County plays a critical role in engaging the democratic voter base to turn out in the District 7 Special Election this fall.

“There is no pathway forward in Tennessee, or the south, that doesn’t run right down Main Street of every single rural county,” said Higdon at the 2025 TNDP Three Star Dinner.

Nathan is a great speaker and a wealth of information. We are thrilled to to have him join us.

ALSO, we are super excited to have our own Jacen Davidson, Ironworkers Local 492 Business Manager AND President of the Nashville/Middle Tennessee Building and Construction Trades join us. He will speak on the threat to TVA from this administration. He will also give us information on the tunnel project and the Boring Company, along with some local things he is working on with Humphreys County Officials.

*One more quick thing I wanted to include at our next meeting* Our local Helping Hands office is running low on some food items. If each person can bring in even one or two items, I know they will help someone in need. I’m including a pic of the items that they said they are low on. I feel sure that most any non-perishable food would be great.

Not sure if everyone is aware, but:

The Humphreys County Commission is in progress of passing a resolution to start developing new rules and regulations for areas outside of city limits (like rural land and neighborhoods).

They’re using a state law that lets counties adopt local control over:
-Land use
-Business activity
-Nuisances (trash, pollution, neglect)
-Public health & safety issues
This is not in effect yet.. the County Executive will work with planners to draft the rules. A 2/3 vote from the commission will be required to make them official.

In short: More local power is coming. Stay informed. Show up. Speak up.

In summary: Humphreys County wants to gain more control over what happens outside city limits, especially around land use, business practices, and nuisance issues. This resolution starts the process to make that happen legally, by developing and adopting new county-wide rules under powers already granted by the state legislature.

Humphreys County Government it can be watched online through their page, but the more people can attend face to face… the better.

Meets 6:00 p.m, August 4th at annex.
