🚨 PULASKI COUNTY 911 NEEDS YOUR HELP! 🚨

We're putting our competitive spirit to work for a GREAT cause! Pulaski County 911 is going head-to-head with other 911 Centers in The Golden Headset Challenge, competing to see which center can collect the MOST nonperishable food items!

🏆 Of course, we WANT those bragging rights, but the REAL WINNERS will be the families right here in our community! ❤️

Every item collected by Pulaski County 911 will be donated to our local Good Samaritan, helping neighbors and families who could use a little extra support this holiday season.

During business hours: Drop off your nonperishable food donations in our lobby.

After hours: An outside drop-off location will be available on the EAST side of our building.

🚨 WHEN SHOULD YOU CALL 911 FOR AN ACCIDENT ON THE INTERSTATE OR HIGHWAY? 🚨

We appreciate everyone who takes the time to call 911 when they see a motor vehicle accident. Your willingness to help could save a life! However, we want to share some important information about how multiple calls reporting the same accident can affect your local 911 center.

🚗 If you WITNESS an accident happen, PLEASE CALL 911!

If you actually see an accident occur, there may not have been enough time for anyone else to report it. Your call is important! You may be the first person notifying emergency services, and the information you provide can help us get responders on their way.

🚗 If you COME UPON an accident that has already happened, please consider whether your call will provide NEW information.

If you are traveling down the interstate or highway and come upon an accident where several vehicles have already stopped, people are out assisting, or it is apparent the accident occurred some time before you arrived, there is a good possibility that 911 has already received multiple calls.

If you are simply driving past and have no additional information about injuries, hazards or the circumstances of the accident, another call reporting only that you saw an accident may not provide any new information.

📞 WHY DOES THIS MATTER?

Most 911 centers operate with limited staffing. When a major accident occurs on the interstate, it is not uncommon for our telecommunicators to receive numerous calls reporting the exact same incident
While answering these calls, they are ALSO:

• Gathering critical information from callers who witnessed the accident or are assisting those involved.
• Dispatching law enforcement, fire departments and ambulances.
• Coordinating additional resources requested by emergency responders.
• Answering OTHER 911 calls for emergencies occurring throughout the county.

When all our telecommunicators are busy, additional 911 calls roll over to neighboring 911 centers, creating additional call volume for those agencies as well.

Every duplicate call takes time to answer, gather information and determine whether it is a new incident or one that has already been reported. That is valuable time our telecommunicators could be spending coordinating emergency resources or answering another emergency call.

❤️ HOW CAN YOU HELP?

If you witness an accident, CALL! If you stop to assist and have information about injuries or additional hazards, CALL! If there is no one around and you believe an accident has not been reported, CALL!

However, if you are simply passing an accident that clearly occurred before you arrived, others are already assisting, and you have no new information to provide, please consider whether another call is necessary.

If you are unsure whether an emergency has been reported, always call 911. We would never want someone to hesitate to report an emergency that truly needs our attention.

Our goal is not to discourage anyone from calling 911 when help is needed. It is to help the public understand that multiple calls reporting the same information can sometimes delay the very work our telecommunicators are trying to accomplish.
