🌟Lexy from the Chelan-Douglas Health District stopped by Leavenworth Public Library yesterday to monitor the air quality inside and lend us a commercial quality air filter!

We’re proud to be partnering with the Health District to provide free N95 masks at many of our libraries, and to now offer even cleaner, filtered air at the Leavenworth Library for the whole community to enjoy while the air outside is so unhealthy.

💦 The Columbia Basin Conservation District visited our Warden Public Library for a fun, hands-on program about watersheds. We created our own city with buildings, trees, people, animals and cars, then added "pollutants" and liquid to learn about water pollution.

🔬The team also brought water from Moses Lake, which we examined under a microscope. We learned how to make a viewing slide and observed the algae and invertebrates in the water. We even saw a microscopic clam!

Our hearts are with everyone across North Central Washington affected by the wildfires burning in our region right now. Those who have evacuated, those watching and waiting, the firefighters and first responders working around the clock, and everyone breathing this smoke and holding their breath along with it.

Wildfire season is something we face together in NCW, and your library is here to help. We've gathered wildfire preparedness and recovery resources on our blog, including information on evacuation levels, air quality, insurance documentation, and where to find trusted updates:
