We had an unforgettable kickoff to the Apple Blossom Festival with Chief for a Day! 🚒🌸

Chief Nica Radach brought big energy, a fearless spirit, and a love for rock ‘n’ roll! After being sworn in, she came straight to the station to adopt our new uniform policy (mandatory Ozzy shirts).

Thank you to everyone who helped make this day so special. It’s moments like these that remind us why we love serving this community.

WVFD and Ballard Ambulance were dispatched to a construction worker who had fallen two floors at the Majestic Project at 14:11 hours.

The worker appeared to have non-life-threatening injuries upon initial assessment. His condition warranted transport to a hospital for further evaluation and treatment. He was in a position that would be difficult and time consuming to remove him from the project safely. Fire crews decided the safest and fastest way to remove the patient from the construction site was to use a ladder truck to crane him from the 4th floor to ground level. This evolution is practiced regularly by WVFD Ladder crews. The patient was moved safely without incident and transported to Confluence Health Hospital by Ballard Ambulance. WVFD crews were clear of the scene, and the patient had been transported by 14:52 hrs.

We wish to thank Rivercom for providing excellent dispatch and communication services, WPD for assisting with traffic control and other logistics, and Ballard ambulance for providing advanced life support personnel to care for and transport the patient.
