🚨Scam Alert🚨
Remember:
If you receive a call from someone claiming to be law enforcement and demanding money:

❌ Hang up immediately
❌ Do not provide personal or financial information
❌ Do not withdraw or transfer money

No legitimate law enforcement agency will ever demand payment over the phone.

🚨 SCAM ATTEMPT 🚨

Orchard Lake and Keego Harbor officers assisted a citizen earlier today who was on the phone with scammers repeatedly identifying themselves as police officers.

The potential victim withdrew cash from her bank account and was instructed to deposit it into a Bitcoin ATM before becoming suspicious and calling us.

Fortunately, officers were able to intervene before the deposit was made.

What makes this case especially concerning is that the scammer(s) used spoofed non-emergency phone numbers for both the Orchard Lake and West Bloomfield Police Departments, making the calls appear legitimate.

If you receive a call from someone claiming to be law enforcement and demanding money:

❌ Hang up immediately
❌ Do not provide personal or financial information
❌ Do not withdraw or transfer money

No legitimate law enforcement agency will ever demand payment over the phone.
