Commissioners Celebrate Foster Care Month 🌟

At this weeks Commissioners meeting, my fellow Commissioners and I presented Foster Care Month proclamations to the Department of Children, Youth, and Families and kinship foster parent Darjanae Shockley, honoring the vital stability foster families provide.

Our community has an ongoing need for foster families, especially for older youth, sibling groups, and children with special needs. Thank you to everyone raising awareness and supporting these resilient families!

Today is a very sad day for West Whiteland Township and all of Chester County as we mourn the unexpected passing of Past Fire Chief George “Bud” Turner of the West Whiteland Fire Company.

For nearly 57 years, Bud Turner answered the call — not for recognition, but because he believed deeply in serving and protecting his community. Even on the day of his passing, he responded to an emergency call and later attended the department’s annual awards banquet, continuing the work and dedication that defined his life.

People like Chief Turner represent the very best of public service. Volunteer firefighters sacrifice countless hours away from their families, careers, and personal lives to keep the rest of us safe. Bud’s legacy of leadership, humility, and commitment will leave a lasting mark on West Whiteland and beyond.

My heartfelt condolences to the Turner family and to the entire West Whiteland Fire Company family during this difficult time. May we honor his memory by never taking for granted those who stand ready to protect us every single day.
