Yesterday, emergency crews responded to a hazardous materials incident at the intersection of West Chester Road and Barrett Road, after a truck spilled approximately 275 gallons of sulfuric acid.
Thanks to the quick actions of the West Chester Fire Department, West Chester Community Services Department, and our partner agencies, the spill was rapidly contained to the roadway and a single nearby yard. Most importantly, crews successfully prevented the material from reaching a nearby creek and impacting local waterways.
Under the direction of the Ohio EPA, cleanup and remediation efforts were completed, and the affected area has been fully restored to its previous condition. There is no danger to nearby homes, businesses, or the environment.
We would like to thank all of the first responders, public works personnel, environmental contractors, partner agencies, and residents for their patience and cooperation throughout the incident.
