🚧 Roadway impacts are vast, and growing by the minute. The impacts include flooded roadways or intersections, downed trees, downed wires, and snapped utility poles. Always assume fallen wires are energized! ⚡️

📣 If you are home, STAY THERE! If you are out, proceed ahead when safe and with an abundance of caution! Lightening strikes to residential homes have been reported.

⛈️ Severe storm cells are still impacting Gloucester County and the region. Our officials witnessed several minutes of large hail. And as reported yesterday, these storms are capable of producing a tornado. Stay alert!

Today, the West Deptford Fire Department conducted another round of our Pre-Employment Competency Course for prospective new members looking to join our department.

We believe that providing the highest level of service starts with setting high standards from the very beginning. Earlier today, the West Deptford Fire Department responded to a commercial petroleum delivery facility on S.R. 44 (Crown Point Road) for a reported petroleum spill that impacted the roadway and nearby storm drains.

Upon arrival, West Deptford firefighters quickly initiated mitigation efforts to contain the spill and prevent further environmental impact. With the assistance of the West Deptford Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Drone Unit, responders utilized land, sea, and air resources to assess the extent of the incident and monitor containment operations. The West Deptford Fire Department Marine Unit also deployed to assist in protecting Woodbury Creek, a tributary of the Delaware River, from contamination.

The West Deptford Fire Department worked alongside the Gloucester County Hazardous Materials Response Unit, the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection – Bureau of Emergency Response, and environmental cleanup contractors to coordinate containment and cleanup efforts.

Traffic on Crown Point Road was impacted during the incident, with lane shifts established by NJDOT to allow emergency crews to operate safely.

Extreme Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories are in effect for our entire area for Wednesday. Highs in the upper 90s to near 100° and maximum heat indices between 100-109° for most of the area, including the NJ Shore and DE Beaches.

Isolated storms possible late north of Philly.

Recently, our members had the incredible honor and opportunity to attend the 33rd Annual Xtreme Industrial Fire & Hazard Training in College Station, Texas.

Recognized as the premier advanced-level training for industrial firefighting professionals, this world-class program provided participants with the opportunity to train alongside the Williams Fire & Hazard Control Emergency Response Team.

Through classroom instruction, hands-on equipment training, and realistic live-fire scenarios, our members gained invaluable knowledge, refined their skills, and learned proven tactics from experts with experience extinguishing more than 300 of the world's largest industrial fires

Training is the foundation of everything we do. Every emergency presents unique challenges, and there is no substitute for being prepared before the call comes.

That's why our members train every day building and reinforcing the skills, confidence, and teamwork needed to respond safely and effectively when our community needs us most.

Opportunities like Xtreme Industrial Fire & Hazard Training allow us to bring back new techniques, share lessons learned, and continually improve our capabilities.

Today, our hearts and prayers are with the members of the Malaga Fire Department as they mourn the loss of one of their own, Firefighter Robert "Bobby" Reider.

The fire service is more than a profession—it is a family. When one department suffers a loss, we all feel it.

We extend our deepest condolences to Bobby's family, friends, and the entire Malaga Fire Department during this incredibly difficult time.

Traffic Advisory / Power Outage
There is a current power outage affecting the areas of Mantua Grove Road & Crown Point Road and Mantua Grove Road & I-295.
As a result, traffic signals in these areas are currently out of service.

Motorists are reminded to use caution in the area.

The power company is on location and actively working to restore service as quickly as possible.

Please use caution while traveling through the area and share this information with others who may be affected.
