Temperatures are climbing, and hot pavement can be dangerous for your dog’s paws. ☀️🐾
A simple rule of thumb: if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws. Press the back of your hand to the pavement. If you can’t hold it there for 7 seconds, it’s too hot to walk.
Best times to walk your dog? Early morning or evening, when the pavement has cooled.
Watch for signs of overheating - excessive panting, drooling, weakness, or disorientation mean it’s time for shade, water, and rest.
Never leave pets in a parked car, even for a few minutes.
Stay safe out there, West Hollywood — for you and your pets.
