US oil consumption peaked a decade ago. Here the blog The Oil Drum sorts out the changes. Improved vehicle mileage appears to account for about 7% of the difference from trend. If leaders of the parties don't come to agreement on a new farm bill, the old Agriculture marketing act, written ing the 1920's, will come into effect. They will be buying milk at over $6 a gallon wholesale. After marketing and distribution that means $9 to $11 dollars a gallon. Another reason for voters to be proud of their choices.
