This was a note left in the time capsule for the Mayor in 2026. It was to be shared publicly, so here it is. This was submitted in a letter by Mary Budd, who was the chairwoman of the time capsule committee in 1976. The contents were submitted by Mrs. Eleanor Naylor on May 14, 1976. The ink was faded, but Chat GPT was able to decipher what I was unable to distinguish.

Neighbors,
I know Facebook can be a place where people share concerns, frustrations, and opinions—but lately, I’ve seen too much negativity tearing down our town and the people who live and work here.
As Mayor, I want everyone to know this: our community is not perfect, but it is ours. We have hardworking residents, dedicated volunteers, local businesses, public servants, and families who care deeply about making this town a better place.
Constructive criticism is welcome. Honest concerns matter. But constantly putting down our community does not solve problems—it discourages people, divides neighbors, and overshadows the good that is happening every day.
If you see an issue, I encourage you to bring it forward in a productive way. Attend a meeting. Contact my office. Volunteer. Support a local business. Help with a project. Be part of the solution.
We can disagree without disrespect. We can ask for better without tearing each other down. And we can take pride in our town while still working to improve it.
Let’s choose community over criticism, solutions over insults, and pride over negativity.

It has come to our attention that someone has paid a scammer to be a vendor for our upcoming event. Vendor information and applications for Miracle on Main Street have not been released yet.

The G.C. Murphy sign is safe. However a resident of WN pryed the letters off. I hope they will return them or contact me. I sent them a message.
