This was such a fun experience! I had the opportunity to record a podcast at PodPopuli Boca with Kartik Krishnaiyer, Managing Editor of The Boca Raton Tribune on August 31st.

We had a great conversation about a variety of topics related to the Palm Beach County Commission and the issues that impact our community. Kartik brings a wealth of institutional knowledge to these discussions, having followed the Commission closely since the late 1990s and early 2000s, which made for a really engaging conversation.

The podcast will be available in early October, so be sure to check it out! I’ll share the link as soon as it becomes available.

Thank you to Kartik and the team at PodPopuli for having me. I’m looking forward to everyone hearing our conversation!

What an honor it was to host the The Homeless Coalition of Palm Beach County’s 2026 Mayors’ Ball: Boots & Bourbon!

A heartfelt thank you to the Homeless Coalition of Palm Beach County, especially CEO Alexandria Ayala and Board President
Melissa McKinlay, Former Palm Beach County Commissioner, as well as the dedicated partners, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters who helped make this special evening possible.

The Mayors’ Ball is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together in support of initiatives focused on housing stability, supportive services, coordinated care, and long-term solutions for vulnerable residents throughout Palm Beach County.

A special thank you to this year’s Mayors’ Ball Event Chairs, Colonel Eric Coleman and Marybel Coleman, and Todd Bonlarron and Rachael Bonlarron.

And, of course, thank you to the mayors from across Palm Beach County who joined us and showed their support: Steve Wilson, Andy Thomson, Christy Maasbach, Betty Resch, Karen Lythgoe, Lisa Interlandi, Dana Middleton, Jeff Hmara, Joe Kyles, Molly Young, Michael Napoleone, JohnPaul O'Connor, and Keith James.

I’m also grateful to my fellow County Commissioners Maria Marino, Gregg Weiss, Joel Flores, Maria Sachs, and Bobby Powell Jr. for joining me for a fun and meaningful evening.

On August 28, I had the honor of attending the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue 2024 & 2025 Annual Awards Ceremony.

More than 500 members joined County Commissioner Gregg Weiss and me, along with County Administrator Joseph Abruzzo, Fire Chief Patrick Kennedy, Chief David Woodside, and county staff, for an evening of recognition and celebration.

It was an opportunity to come together, celebrate accomplishments, and recognize the outstanding work of our Fire Rescue personnel. Most importantly, it was a night to honor the dedicated men and women who make Palm Beach County Fire Rescue what it is. Their courage, professionalism, and commitment to serving our community do not go unnoticed.

Congratulations to all of this year’s award recipients, and thank you to every member of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue for all you do each day to keep our residents and communities safe!

What a great night at Boca Regional Chamber Festival Days: Lip Sync Battle at The Studio at Mizner Park on August 27! Community members took the stage for an incredibly fun evening benefiting the Mizner Park Cultural Arts Association and supporting the arts and cultural programs that enrich our community.

Congratulations to the winning trio, Blondes Taking Boca By Storm, who brought down the house with their performance of “It’s Raining Men”! All of the performers did an amazing job and made the evening so much fun.

It was wonderful seeing so many familiar faces, including Rosie Inguanzo Martin, Sarah Pearson, Max Pearson, Donna Chirico Biase, Peg Anderson, Pamela Higer-Polani, Christen Ritchey, Troy McLellan, April Lewis, Trisha Ramudo, and so many others!

On Tuesday, August 25, I had the pleasure of attending the 2nd Annual Chopstick Challenge as part of Boca Regional Chamber Festival Days. The event was held in partnership with HabCenter Boca Raton, Red Pine Boca Restaurant & Bar, and Wyndham Hotel Boca Raton.

The talented “Chopstick Jockeys” included Steven Clarfield, Jan Savarick, Dr. Van P Williams, Nicole Grims, Chi Chan, and this year’s winner, Jerry Fedele!

The HabCenter is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering adults with differences to live with dignity, respect, and independence. It was great to support such an important cause while enjoying a fun and memorable evening with the community.

It was also wonderful seeing Sherry A. Henry, CEO of the HabCenter, along with Marcia Shatzman, Pamela Higer-Polani, Fran Durst Nachlas, Nathan E Nachlas, Paige Kornblue, Robert S Weinroth, and so many others who came out to support the event.

At the Board of County Commissioners meeting on August 25, I had the privilege of declaring August 2026 as Veterans and First Responders Month in Palm Beach County.

The safety, security, and strength of our communities depend on the unwavering dedication, courage, and sacrifice of our military veterans and first responders. Our veterans answered the call to defend our nation and our freedoms, and many continue to serve as leaders, mentors, and pillars of our communities. Our law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, and dispatchers selflessly answer the call each day to protect lives, preserve property, and keep our communities safe.

Thank you to all who have served, including members of our own Palm Beach County family: County Administrator Joseph Abruzzo, County Commissioner Joel Flores, and County Engineer David Ricks. I am grateful for their service to our country and for the work they continue to do on behalf of our residents.

On August 21, I had the opportunity to speak at the Rotary Club Downtown Boca Raton, and there was so much to celebrate at this meeting!

The Club welcomed its newest member, Christen Ritchey, and recognized the members who volunteered for Adopt-A-Precinct as Rotarians of the Week. Teri Wolofsky also received her Rotarian of the Week coin in recognition of her contributions to the Nutrition on Weekends (NOW) Program.

I was also happy to give some “Happy Dollars” in celebration of my 49th birthday! We celebrated several August birthdays during the meeting, including mine and Mayor Andy Thomson’s.

Thank you to President Bob Tucker for the invitation, the warm welcome, and, of course, the birthday cake! I always enjoy spending time with our local Rotarians and recognizing the many ways they give back to our community.

Always happy to attend an HEI Florida event! Thank you to Yulimar Quintero Trumbo for the invitation to provide welcome remarks at the Financial Forum: Access to Capital for Small Business, held at Palm Beach State College’s Boca Raton Campus. It was a great opportunity to welcome more than 100 founders.

We also heard welcoming and opening remarks from Nikki Cabus, Mayor Andy Thomson, and Dr. Van Williams, who helped set the stage for an informative and productive program.

Following the opening remarks, participants attended two sessions featuring panels focused on access to capital, business resources, and opportunities available to entrepreneurs throughout our community.

Palm Beach County was well represented by Meri Weymer and members of the Palm Beach County Department of Economic Development, who shared valuable information and resources available to support our local business community.

Thank you again to HEI and everyone who helped bring together such a valuable forum for our region’s entrepreneurs and small business owners.

On August 20, I had the honor of presenting a proclamation recognizing June Gelb in celebration of her remarkable 100th birthday during the 16th Annual White Coats-4-Care event at The Club at Boca Pointe alongside Boca Mayor Andy Thomson.

Each year, Florida Atlantic University’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine welcomes a new class of physicians-in-training. Founded by Bonnie and Jon Kaye of Kaye Communications, White Coats-4-Care provides important support for medical student scholarships, biomedical research, and innovation in medical education. Over the past 15 years, the initiative has raised more than $2.7 million to help invest in the future of medicine.

Congratulations to this year’s incoming class of medical students as they begin this exciting journey, and a very special happy 100th birthday to June A. Gelb! It was a privilege to be part of such a meaningful celebration.

It was also wonderful seeing Pamela Higer-Polani, Maurice D Plough Jr, Adam Hasner, Ryan Britton, Camile Johnson, and so many other community leaders and supporters come together for this special occasion.

On Wednesday, August 19, my husband, Michael Woodward, and I had the pleasure of attending The Addison Unveiled: History, Bubbles & Bites as part of Boca Regional Chamber Festival Days.

It was such a wonderful opportunity to explore one of Boca Raton’s most iconic landmarks through an intimate guided tour of The Addison. We learned more about the venue’s fascinating history, beautiful architecture, and lasting legacy while enjoying bubbles, a signature cocktail, and delicious chef-selected hors d’oeuvres.

The Addison partnered with the Boca Raton Historical Society to make the evening even more special and bring our community’s history to life.

It was also wonderful seeing so many familiar faces, including Zoe Lanham, Olivia Hollaus, Fran Durst Nachlas, Troy McLellan, Emily Lawless Burse, Kel Boyle, and many others. Thank you to everyone who helped put together such a memorable evening celebrating the history, people, and places that make Boca Raton so special!
