Today, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue was honored to take part in Trauma Survivors Day at Delray Medical Center.
The event kicked off with the Honor Guard and PBCFirefighters PIpes and Drums. This event brought together trauma survivors, their families, hospital staff, and first responders in recognizing the teamwork that saves lives every day.
Listening to survivors share their stories was a reminder that trauma care is a true continuum that begins at the scene of an accident, continuing through the trauma bays, the intensive care and step-down units, rehabilitation, and ultimately getting patients to return home and back to their lives.
Division Chief Gibson from , who also serves as President of the EMS Providers Association of Palm Beach County, spoke about how new tools in prehospital trauma care including whole blood, ultrasound, plasma, and other advanced techniques continue to improve patient care and survival.
PBCFR’s Lt. Garay shared that events like this are all about healing, hope, and celebrating the strength of survivors and their families.
A big thank you to everyone at Delray Medical Center and all of the trauma teams who help make these survivor stories possible every single day.
