NATIONAL NIGHT OUT UPDATES
As many of you know, our deputies, firefighters, and partner agencies have been working around the clock as the Gann Fire enters its second day. Due to the ongoing response, several first responders who had planned to attend National Night Out have been reassigned to support fire operations and the communities impacted by this incident.
Out of an abundance of caution due to the active fire response, Prospect 772 Winery, located at 772 Appaloosa Road in Angels Camp, has made the decision to cancel their National Night Out gathering scheduled for this evening.
Individuals who were planning to attend the National Night Out event at Prospect 772 Winery are encouraged to join one of the following scheduled locations:
• La Contenta Golf Course – 1653 S. Highway 26, Valley Springs
• West Point Fire Station – 195 Spink Road, West Point
• Forest Meadows (Meadow View Park) – 46 Forest Meadows Drive, Murphys
National Night Out will continue at these locations, and we encourage residents who are able to attend to come out, meet your neighbors, and take part in this opportunity to strengthen our community connections. While you may notice fewer first responders than originally planned, we appreciate your understanding as resources remain focused on the Gann Fire response.
This moment is also a reminder of why events like National Night Out matter. Strong communities are built through relationships before emergencies occur. Tonight provides an opportunity to connect with your neighbors, discuss emergency plans, identify those who may need additional assistance, and share ideas on how we can all be better prepared for incidents like the one our county is experiencing.
We also want to recognize the local businesses, community organizations, and volunteers who have continued supporting tonight’s events. Many have stepped up, knowing our public safety presence would be limited, and we are grateful for their commitment to our communities.
