Thanks Mr Dave!
Welcome to the Official page for the Village of Westchester, Illinois Cook County, 13 miles west of the Chicago Loop.
Except for a handful of old farmhouses scattered throughout the village and a few streets named after German farmers who once owned the land, little remains of the nearly 150-year history of farming in the area that became Westchester. The village name, the vast majority of street names, and a few homes built in the 1920s provide clues to the founders' plans for a model English-style town, which was thwarted by the Great Depression. https://www.westchester-il.org/community/history
Thanks Mr Dave!

Chicago: Part of ongoing efforts to keep roadsides, interchanges, ramps and shoulders clean of trash and debris, litter removal operations are scheduled to take place along the expressway system in Cook and the collar counties. Although lane closures will not be required, equipment and workers may be present on the shoulders. Motorists are asked to remain alert, slow down, move over and give maintenance teams space to work – it’s the law.
The following schedule is for daytime litter removal to take place intermittently during the weeks of Oct. 2 and Oct. 9. The locations are weather-permitting and subject to change. To view a short video on the impacts of litter in Illinois, click here: https://idot.click/803be3.

We want to draw your attention to an essential aspect of neighborhood safety—our storm drains. Proper storm drain maintenance is crucial to prevent damage and clogs. Here's what you need to know and how you can help:
Why it Matters:
1. Flood Prevention: Clogged or damaged storm drains can lead to flooding during heavy rainfall. This flooding can damage homes, vehicles, and property. By keeping drains clear, we reduce the risk of flood-related incidents.
2. Environmental Impact: Debris, trash, and pollutants can accumulate in clogged drains, leading to contamination of our local waterways. This pollution harms aquatic life and negatively affects our environment.
3. Road Safety: Standing water around storm drains can create hazardous conditions for pedestrians and drivers. Properly maintained storm drains help ensure the safety of all community members.
What You Can Do:
1. Stay Informed: Pay attention to weather forecasts, especially during rainy seasons. Be prepared for heavy rain events and take precautions.
2. Clear Your Property: Ensure that your property is free from debris and clutter that could end up in the storm drains during storms. Secure outdoor items that might be swept away by rain.
3. No Dumping: Never dump anything down a storm drain, including trash, leaves, or chemicals. Dispose of waste materials responsibly.
3. Report Issues: If you notice damaged or clogged storm drains in your neighborhood, please report them to us immediately at 708-345-0060 extension #0. Do not attempt to clear them yourself, as it can be dangerous.
4. Community Involvement: Join or support community clean-up efforts to remove litter and debris from the streets before they reach the storm drains.
By following these simple guidelines, you play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our neighborhood. Let's work together to maintain clear, functioning storm drains, and protect our community from potential harm.
