Red Riding Hood - Creative Project

Red Riding Hood - Creative Project This is page of the photographic project, Red Riding Hood, by Denver photographer, Mark Alison.

For many years I have wanted to replicate a classic story in the most realistic way. The tale of Red Riding Hood has been reserved for children stories, named “Little Red Riding Hood”, taking many various forms since its original French inception. My vision was to bring the characters of Little Red and The Big Bad Wolf into the real world with a twist. Instead of the wolf as a foe and Red as a little girl, she is now a young woman with a faithful guardian by her side.

These are the final images from the project.

Just an update...

I've been out of commission for the past week and a half, so there has sadly been no progress in the photo edits. I'll keep everyone updated. Thanks for understanding!

I want to thank everyone, including Brooke Summer Photography, Jas Purdue, and several others who offered their hand at the project. We only had room for a total of 4 people on staff, which made it impossible to include even members from our own team who wanted to be there. There is a workshop in the making for the end of this summer that is sure to make some people very happy!

So excited to announce the project has been a 100% success! The odds we beat and all the variables involved came through in the last 15 minutes. Now for the long drive home. Photos to come :)

Tomorrow is the day we complete this project!

A little trivia:

Kent Weber, the founder of Mission: Wolf, appeared on episode 1623 of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood in 1990. He showed up with an adult wolf and a pup. Fred Rogers passed away on February 27, 2003. That same day the grown pup also died.

You can watch it on Amazon Prime or see details here: http://www.neighborhoodarchive.com/mrn/episodes/1623/index.html

Upon his arrival, Mister Rogers takes out the vacuum and sweeps the floor immediately after changing into his sweater and sneakers. He talks about the loud noise that a vacuum makes and assures viewers that a person can never be sucked up into a sweeper.

Heading down to Pueblo area to scout the wolf sanctuary today!

02/21/2013

Finally, everything is falling in place for our visit to the wolf sanctuary on March 4th! We will stay the day and get acquainted with the animals, location, angles, lighting, and amenities. This is the most scouting I've ever done for a project but totally worth it!

A little update on a huge deal...

The first sanctuary gave me a contact for someone who owns a whole pack of black wolves on a 50 acre wilderness plot near Pueblo. Neither location can provide an animal that travels to our destination, but the latest one has so much to offer with a huge snowy forest and portable power. While the drive is a long one, this could be just the spot we needed!

So, I haven't told many people out of pure shame, but I somehow lost the contact information for the Black Wolf owner in Littleton. Today I made a break after searching very long and hard for another owner. Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center has 2 black wolves and will get back to me soon on if they can work with us. Sooooooooo hoping this works out!!! I can't take the anticipation.
