Excessive heat is expected Monday through Friday, with daytime temperatures in the mid-90s and heat index values that could reach higher. Warm overnight temperatures will provide some relief, but there is still a risk of heat-related illness.

Please take the following precautions:

💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty.

🏠 Stay in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible. If you don't have air conditioning, you can visit La Grange Hospital or a Cook County Cooling Center (https://www.cookcountyil.gov/service/cooling-centers)

🌳 Limit strenuous outdoor activities to the early morning or evening hours and take frequent breaks in the shade.

👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.

🚗 Never leave children, older adults, or pets unattended in a vehicle—even for a few minutes.

👵 Check on older neighbors, relatives, and anyone who may be more vulnerable to extreme heat.

🐾 Make sure pets have plenty of fresh water and access to shade or a cool indoor space.

Know the warning signs of heat-related illness. If someone becomes confused, loses consciousness, or has a body temperature above 103°F, call 911 immediately as heat stroke is a medical emergency. Stay informed by monitoring the latest forecast and any updated heat alerts from the National Weather Service as conditions may change, depending on the onset of potential storms mid- to late-week.
