You might feel like some stress is easy to brush off, but once it starts impacting your sleep, health, or your relationships, it’s time to take a closer look. Stress Awareness Month reminds us to check in with ourselves and make some adjustments.

If you’ve felt a little overwhelmed lately, try:

✅ Stepping outside for fresh air, even if it’s just for a few minutes
✅ Moving your body in a way that feels good to you
✅ Taking short breaks during the day to reset
✅ Staying connected with someone you trust
✅ Trying simple breathing exercises to slow things down

You don’t have to change all of your habits at once. Just making conscious decisions can lower your stress levels and allow you to be more present in your everyday life. 🧘

Changes in movement, balance, or coordination can be easy to overlook at first, but they may be early signs of Parkinson’s disease. In New Jersey alone, more than 20,000 people are living with a Parkinson’s diagnosis.

World Parkinson’s Day highlights ongoing research, treatment options, and the importance of greater awareness, which helps communities better understand the condition and support those living with Parkinson’s every day.

April is Alcohol Awareness Month, which is a great time to pay attention to your habits and ask yourself some honest questions. Are you sleeping as well as you could? Feeling your best the next day? Drinking out of habit or during inappropriate times?

Take a minute to notice what’s working for you and what might need a second look. It isn’t about labeling anything right or wrong, just assessing your habits and how they actually make you feel.

If you need support, it’s always available at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Helpline (1-800-662-4357).

On World Health Day, we’re reminded to check in on how we’re feeling and what we might need a little more of right now. That could be rest, movement, a doctor’s visit you’ve been putting off, or just getting back into a routine that works for you.

Health looks different for everyone, and it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Start where you are and build from there. You’ve got this!

National Public Health Week is a chance to recognize the people behind the work that keeps our communities healthy, and it’s our privilege to be part of a field that keeps residents safe, informed, supported, and connected to the services they need.

We’re grateful to work alongside dedicated colleagues and community partners who care deeply about this work and show up for it every day. We remain committed to continuing that work through local programs, initiatives, education, and services that directly support our communities.

On World Autism Awareness Day, the focus is on building understanding and improving access to services that support individuals with autism across their lifespan—that’s public health. These efforts help connect families to resources, promote early identification, and support inclusive environments in our communities so every individual gets the support they deserve. 💙

The foods we choose each day play an important role in energy, focus, and long-term health. 🍅 National Nutrition Month encourages people to take a closer look at everyday eating habits and find practical ways to build balanced meals.

Keep these tips in mind to support lasting health and wellness:

🍽️ Include a variety of fruits and vegetables throughout the day
🍽️ Choose whole grains instead of refined grains when possible
🍽️ Add lean proteins like beans, fish, poultry, eggs, or nuts
🍽️ Drink water regularly and limit sugary beverages
🍽️ Plan meals and snacks ahead to help make balanced choices easier

For healthy recipes and additional nutrition tips, read our monthly newsletter and browse the archives on our website! 🥗
