Congratulations to Our Newest Graduates!

Today, three of our firefighters successfully completed the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy’s Municipal Recruit Training Program.

For the last ten weeks, firefighters Michael Young, Jacob Sanborn, and Michael Kelly received extensive instruction and hands-on training to develop the knowledge and skills required of Westfield Fire Department personnel.

We would also like to extend a special congratulations to Firefighter Michael Young, who was selected as the Honor Recruit for Class S46!

Please join us in congratulating all three of our newest graduates on this significant accomplishment. We are proud of their hard work and dedication and look forward to seeing them continue to grow as members of the Westfield Fire Department.

This week we welcomed 2 new employees to our department. Two new firefighters starting their career.

On Saturday, August 8, 2026, Westfield Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire on King Street.

Today, Chief Eric Bishop has provided a press release for the incident.

Today D Group responded to a fire on Union St. It ended up being a small cooking fire. One of our firefighters carried a dog out to safety.

This August, the Westfield Fire Department is proud to recognize the work anniversaries of 19 dedicated members of our team, celebrating careers that range from 1 year to 31 years of service.

Every one of these firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, and officers has made a commitment to serving and protecting our community. They spend nights, weekends, and holidays away from their families, answer calls for help at all hours of the day and night, and continually train to prepare for the wide variety of emergencies they may face.

Today, we would like to thank them all for their dedication, professionalism, and service to the City of Westfield.

Last week, Westfield Fire received the 6 sets of firefighter turnout gear that we recently ordered. The health and safety of our members are important to us.

We are happy to show our residents the new gear.
Deputy Pat Kane Jr. and Deputy Seth Ellis received a new set. The deputies' coats are in in the new color scheme.

Firefighter/Paramedic Aidan King (pictured below) is wearing his set of new gear. The new firefighter gear is now in black.

Please join us in welcoming the two newest members of the Westfield Fire Department: Firefighter/EMT Andrew Brunelle and Firefighter/EMT Charles May!

Andrew comes to us after working in private EMS. He grew up in Western Massachusetts, and is looking to further his career in the fire service and help people in the community.

Charlie grew up in Monson, and is a graduate of Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School in Palmer. He earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts, and has experience in the health and wellness field.

We are excited to have Andrew and Charlie join our team and wish them both long, safe, and successful careers serving the City of Westfield.
