From Then to Now

When Wheels2U Westport first launched during the early months of COVID, it served only a handful of riders in a limited area. Five years later, it’s become an essential part of daily life for residents and those who commute to Westport for work. Wheels2U is now a high-demand service providing thousands of rides every month throughout the entire town.

All three candidates for First Selectman recently took rides on Wheels2U and praised the Westport Transit District’s on-demand, door-to-door service to the train stations, the Senior Center, the Farmers’ Market and the Library at Jesup Green.

According to Don O’Day, Wheels2U “Is a very convenient thing to use and it is designed to
really help reduce congestion and traffic in town”. David Rosenwaks added “If we encourage people to use the wheels2u program and in concert make Westport more bikeable and walkable we will take many cars off the road, that will improve traffic ”. And Kevin Christie said “With the stop at the library there’s so much access to the Levitt, main street and more”
