We had an amazing time last night at our Future Marine Physical Training. We also had the privilege of recognizing Trey Vinton and Jesse Erven at their last PT session. These two hard chargers are headed to MCRD San Diego in a few days for 13 Weeks. It has been a pleasure having you two within our ranks. Semper Fi!!!

As a parent of a Poolee I am very proud of my son for choosing the Marines. He is also excited about the possibilities the Marine Corps Reserves can offer.
My disappointment is as a parent with a recruiter at this location SSGT David Billen. SSGT Billen does not answer questions or provide any assistance to parents. My questions were very simple I felt and of a nature that pertained to my son. My son joined as a Poolee at age 17. SSGT never answered my questions and at one time told me that I “ask too many questions” and that he “is a very busy man too busy for questions not from his recruits”.
Previously, SSGT had no problem messaging me during the day or late at night questions about buying a home and VA financing as I am in Real Estate. I always answered and offered my advice. On several occasions SSGT Billen boasted about the reason he was only a SSGT at his age. “I punched superior officers that deserved it”. Whether that is true or not I don’t know but not something a man in his position should brag about.
My son who is a Poolee has struggled with the death of his mother 3 years ago. In a recent conversation, SSGT Billen told me that my son is lucky to have even graduated from high school and that he is lucky to still be in the Poolee program.
As a parent I am so very proud of my son for choosing the Marines. As a parent I am disappointed that if I ever had a question that it was apparently wrong to ask his recruiter any questions. Typically my questions were about the GI Bill, ship out date, or my son helping to recruit a new Poolee. I have the utmost respect for all military men and women. I have no doubt SSGT Billen is a Marine that has earned, fought for, and deserves respect. However, as a go to person for questions about your Poolee and or the parent of a Marine recruit I feel he fails miserably. As a parent I’m very disappointed that my sons recruiter refuses to answer any questions, degrades my son on the death of his mother, and constantly has threatened to discharge him over his emotional struggles. Most troubling is that during our first meeting at the recruit sub station I informed SSGT Billen that my son at one time took ADD medication when he was younger. We wanted to be honest as this was an official pre recruit questionnaire. SSGT Billen told me if we put that on the medical questionnaire that it will cause more questions to be asked and would require more information and would be time consuming. He instructed my son and I to answer “no” to if he ever took ADD medication. He asked us to lie. At this point I and perhaps my son welcome a discharge. On several occasions I had to call recruiters at other sub stations for answers to basic questions I had as a parent. They were very helpful.
I recommend the Marines, I recommend sub station Weatherford, I do not recommend you choose SSGT Billen as your teens recruiter.
