The Berlin Police Department is proud to announce the return of our Citizen's Police Academy. Participants will have the opportunity to meet members of our department who will teach a variety of topics related to policing and demonstrate various equipment and technologies. It is our hope that the experience will familiarize citizens with BPD practices, everyday operations and increase communication between our department and the community we serve.

The Academy will be held Saturday, November 7th and Saturday, November 14th from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (attendance is required both days). Attendance is limited to 12 participants and attendees will be randomly selected from the pool of applicants. Applicants must be 18+ years old, and live or work in Berlin. A criminal history check will be conducted on each applicant.

Applications are available online at the link below, electronically by emailing Officer Musanti at [email protected] or arranged to be picked up in person at the Berlin Police Department by calling 860-828-7101.

East Hartford PD members were proud to join yesterday’s event at the CT Office of the Chief State’s Attorney honoring Collin Genetti,a 10-year-old with a true passion for law enforcement who’s fighting a rare cancer with incredible courage.

Collin arrived in style with a full police motorcade es**rt and spent the day meeting officers, K-9 teams, and checking out equipment from departments across the state.

One of the highlights for our crew: Collin got to say hello to our own K-9 Beacon! Seeing that smile made the whole day worth it.

To Collin and his family, the entire law enforcement community has your back. Keep fighting, Collin! 🙏

Last night, Sergeant Mendes, Officer Givens, and Officer Gunningsmith, each received a Lifesaving Citation for their quick actions during a medical call in February, 2026, which included performing CPR on an unresponsive individual.

Every shift as a police officer is unpredictable. Our officers are tasked with having to make split second life saving decisions. Great work by Sergeant Mendes, Officer Givens, and Officer Gunningsmith!
