We’re keeping a close eye on things, alerts regarding severe weather will come as often as they’re published by the NWS.

⚠ A severe weather outbreak is likely Sunday afternoon well into the evening. The greatest tornado threat will be from 5 pm to midnight. A few strong tornadoes🌪 are possible. Pay attention to the weather and have multiple ways to receive warnings. ⚠

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has INCREASED the probability for Damaging Winds Sunday over locations such as Memphis, TN...Birmingham, AL...Tuscaloosa, AL...Hoover, AL and Jackson, TN. In addition, threats for Significant Hail and Significant Tornadoes remain.

🇺🇸GM & Ford said, “Hold our cars, watch this; we can make ventilators where we were making cars by next week.”

🇺🇸Construction companies said, “Here are some masks for the medical staff & doctors.”

🇺🇸Restaurants & schools said, “We’ve got kitchens & staff; we can feed the kids.”

🇺🇸NHL & NBA players are writing checks to pay the arena staff during postponed seasons.

🇺🇸Churches are holding online services & taking care of their members & community.

🇺🇸Women & children are making homemade masks & handing out snacks to truckers.

🇺🇸Breweries are making sanitizer out of the left-over ingredients.

🇺🇸We thought we couldn’t live without baseball, hockey, & NASCAR, or going to beaches, restaurants, or a bar.. Instead, we’re ordering take-out to help keep businesses alive.

What they didn’t count on was America saying, “Hold my beer, watch this.”

I think a Japanese Admiral in the middle of the Pacific said it best in 1941: “I think we have awakened a sleeping giant.”

Give us a little more time & we will be doing much better! Stop listening to the hysterical media.

☔️ Looks like SFC is clear of severe weather. But, Ol’ Mother Nature is unpredictable. We’ll update as often as NOAA gives one out. ⛈

Make sure you share to family and friends in the areas that are most likely to be affected.

There is some potential of severe weather in southern Arkansas on Sunday. Severe storms are more likely along the Gulf Coast from Louisiana to Georgia. This could be a significant outbreak, including tornadoes.

Julian Johnson of Cotton Plant VFD is a firefighter that sustained critical injuries when the fire truck he was riding in unfortunately wrecked. Julian was ejected from the vehicle and has been resilient in the fight for his life. He has underwent several reconstructive surgeries and the road to recovery will undoubtedly be a long one.

The Wheatley VFD has for weeks, been planning a benefit fish fry to which all of the proceeds would be donated to Julian and his family.

Well, today, we flawlessly executed that plan. We stood together for our brother in his time of need. We are proud to announce that our Treasurer, Sterling Washington secured a check to be donated to Julian (based on the fish fry proceeds) in the amount of $1,000.00

Also, Treasurer Washington along with his father, Henry Washington donated a separate check of $200.00 on the behalf of themselves and their non-profit organization “The Crew”.

The small town of Wheatley is proud of our citizens for for participating and we thank you on Julian’s behalf.

Once again, “we’re a small town, but we’re a proud town”.- Mayor Larry Nash.

Today the WVFD is standing together in solidarity against COVID-19 and for a brother that was seriously injured in an accident.
