Letter from Athletic Director Tom Theodorakis with official announcement:

Army Fans,

Today marks a significant moment for the future of Army West Point Athletics.

The Army West Point Athletic Association and USAA have announced a historic long-term preservation partnership rooted in shared values of service, leadership, integrity, and excellence. This partnership represents one of the most significant strategic initiatives in the modern era of Army Athletics and a major investment in the future of our cadet-athletes, our programs, and our institution.

The agreement includes integrated branding opportunities throughout Army Athletics, including jersey patches, venue branding, multimedia assets, preservation-focused designations, and strategic financing opportunities to support future facility enhancements - most notably helping catalyze the Athletics Center for Excellence, the future home of Army West Point Athletics.

I want to personally share why we pursued this partnership and why I believe it is so important for the future of Army Athletics.

The landscape of college athletics is changing rapidly. Institutions across the country are adapting in real time to remain competitive and sustainable. At Army West Point Athletics, we have a responsibility to embrace opportunities that strengthen our cadet-athletes, advance our mission, and position Army Athletics for continued success while remaining true to the values and traditions that define West Point.

Simply put, this partnership helps us do exactly that.

USAA was the right partner because they understand our mission better than anyone. Their longstanding commitment to military members and their families, combined with a deep appreciation for the values of West Point, made them a natural fit for Army Athletics. USAA has long supported our military community, our department, and America's Game - the Army-Navy Game presented by USAA.

This partnership will directly support more than 1,200 cadet-athletes across all 30 varsity programs and help advance transformational priorities throughout our department. Most notably, it will help catalyze the Athletics Center for Excellence - a project that will elevate the cadet-athlete experience, strengthen leadership development, enhance recruiting, and support the long-term vision outlined in our Fruits of Victory Strategic Plan.

As part of the agreement, USAA branding will appear on uniform patches across all Army varsity athletic programs and at the 25-yard lines inside Michie Stadium. The partnership also includes the designation "Michie Stadium Preserved by USAA." Importantly, the Michie name remains. Blaik Field remains Blaik Field. Those names, and many others, are woven into the fabric of Army Athletics and will continue to be honored for generations to come. This partnership creates new opportunities to celebrate and elevate our history while investing in our future.

Like many Division I athletic departments, Army Athletics relies on a combination of institutional support, philanthropy, sponsorships, media rights, ticket revenue, and other externally generated resources. This partnership strengthens our ability to invest in cadet-athletes, advance strategic priorities, and remain nationally competitive while continuing to develop leaders of character for our Nation.

Throughout this process, we engaged graduates, former cadet-athletes, coaches, board members, and supporters to ensure this partnership reflected the mission, values, and traditions of West Point. The result is a partnership that honors our history while helping us build for the future.

Army Athletics has always evolved while remaining true to its values. This partnership continues that tradition.
The future of Army Athletics is bright, and I believe this partnership positions us to continue competing, leading, and winning at the highest levels for generations to come.

I am incredibly excited about what this partnership makes possible - not only for today's cadet-athletes, but for the future leaders who will wear the Army uniform.

Thank you for your continued support of Army West Point Athletics.

Go Army. Beat Navy. Beat Everyone.

Congratulations to Colin Matteson on his graduation and commissioning on Saturday, and to all his classmates.

His officer instructor told me Colin was one of the best students in his 150 cadet Decision Science class despite often missing classes on Friday due to football games.

Colin of course was a starting safety on a terrific defensive unit.

Sometimes the over achievers are the quite guys. Will be amazing to watch his career.

Best to all the West Point Class of '26.
