Access for families who can’t drive hours for swim lessons or water aerobics.
Access for seniors, students, and neighbors of all ages who deserve affordable, local ways to move, connect, and stay healthy. 🌊

The new White Salmon Valley Pool is about removing barriers - geographic, financial, and physical - so everyone in our community has a place to belong.

Let’s Get Our New Pool Built!

The White Salmon Pool has been an important part of White Salmon life and history for over 80 years and a pool is an important community amenity for the future. People want to live in towns with amenities such as good schools, libraries, a vibrant downtown, public pools, etc. Resources such as these improve the quality of life and increase property values in the long-term. Our pool is a prominent and valuable community asset that helps make our community vibrant and desirable.

For the past 12 or more years there have been efforts to build a new pool to replace the failing old one. But a flaw in those efforts has been the lack of reliable funding for ongoing pool operation and maintenance. That is, until the White Salmon Valley Pool Metropolitan Park District and accompanying levy for operation and maintenance was approved by District voters. Now that the current 80+ year old White Salmon Pool has been closed by a Health Dept. inspection there’s little sense in trying to patch up the old pool, especially since it was scheduled to be decommissioned in July 2021 anyhow.

So now is the time to get a new community pool built. Potential amenities and possible sites are being reviewed and evaluated, and fundraising is underway to meet a goal of $2 million in cash and in-kind serves well before the 2020 construction season begins. That will allow time to develop the final design, run the bid process, and acquire the necessary approvals and permits that will be required so construction can proceed for opening the new pool as soon as possible.
