Health Promotion Coordinator, Alicia Ferris-Dannenberg spent some time with our wonderful youth at the Youth Center for the Month of the Military Child. Mrs. Dannenberg designed and set up an obstacle course which enticed the children to run, jump rope, scoot, dribble across the gym back to their team, all the while working as a team. Handouts were given on the 5, 2, 1, 0 program (5 fruits/veg per day, 2 hrs or less of screen time, 1 hr/day of physical activity, 0 sweetened beverages). In the US, there is a 20% obesity rate amoung children. Let's make it a point to not let that be "our military child."

To recognize the national campaign quitting smokeless to***co (Great American Spit Out), we had a "Get Rid of the Dip, How Far Can You Spit" contest. Contestants signed up to see how far they could spit their CHEW...ING Gum! We had 18 contestants. Our winner, who spat his gum 404", was SRA Osei-Gyasi! All contestants recieved a bag full of swag and the winner won a gift card to the Commissary. Fun was had by all. Shout out to our Dental Team MSgt Thompson and TSgt Bryant who donated whitening toothpaste and toothbrushes (and words of advice about oral care, of course!)
