Our chapter is looking for 2 POCs and 30 volunteers for a Worlds of Fun fundraiser. It is a great bullet and each day raises about $1000. We are a nonprofit organization that advocates for service members, veterans and families’ at Capitol Hill.

Last Friday, we came together in remembrance of our prisoners of war and those missing in action. This AFSA sponsored event had participants read their names and run in shifts for 24hrs. It was truly an honor.

❄️ Tis the season! ❄️ And with that comes freezing temperatures. Our local community is coming together to provide an additional shelter at Northside Christian Church due to the ones in town running at full capacity. If you are interested in volunteering, there are a few shifts remaining.
Organizations in Warrensburg are currently working to develop a volunteer team to run a warming shelter in our community due to the freezing weather. With existing shelters in our community running at full capacity, the need exists to provide shelter to an estimated 20 additional individuals. While....

AFSA's Official Legislative Awareness Week 2022 (LAW 2022) has arrived, and we are thrilled to share what we have in store for you. Our team has prepared "A Zoom A Day" broadcast that will give you insights on issues we currently advocate for, like the legislative process, SGLI (Servicemember's Group Life Insurance), sexual assault and harassment, education, hyperbaric oxygen treatment (HOT), military voting, and more.
Our team will post on HQAFSA.org, under LAW2022, broadcast videos from Sunday, October 16 through Saturday, October 22.
During that week, the videos will be broadcast three times per day. The time is:
• 12 p.m. EST I 9 a.m. PST
• 4 p.m. EST I 1 p.m. PST
• 9 p.m. EST I 6 p.m. PST
Each of these will highlight a cause we strongly support and believe in. We will have several Zoom chats with some of our special guests.
Don't forget to spread the word to your friends, family, and other acquaintances so that they can also take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

Please join us on October 15th at 0900 as we collect litter along our sponsored portion of MO Highway 23. Bags, gloves, and vests will be provided to participants.
The Initial meet up point will be on base at the Missions End Parking lot. There we will go over procedures, safety briefings, and hand out equipment. We will then split into two groups to safely and efficiently collect litter (picture below for reference). The event should only take approximately 1-2 hours, depending on the number of volunteers. Hope to see you there!

Chief Master Sergeant Cavender gave closing remarks for our Prisoners of War/Missing in Action 24hr Remembrance event. We continue to honor these service members and their sacrifices. Nearly 82,000 remain unaccounted for but they are .
Today AFSA and the 5/6 Council held it's 24 hour Prisoners of War/Missing in Action Remembrance event. In its observance, we honor and pay tribute to these members. We appreciate all of our participants and volunteers as this event will continue until tomorrow morning.

Individuals can sign up for multiple time slots if they desire and are encouraged to sign up in groups.
