We were excited to welcome students from Maize South Middle School to Maize Central Elementary School for a special “work” visit! During their time here, the middle school students read to classes, played with students at recess, and helped support learning activities. Opportunities like this help build responsibility, empathy, leadership, and civic engagement while creating meaningful connections between students across our district.

In celebration of Earth Day (April 22), our STEAM classes created an amazing bottle cap art installation now on display in the cafeteria! ♻️🇺🇸

This year’s piece features the American flag with a map of the United States layered on top—highlighting skyscrapers, mountains, rivers, Midwest foliage, and coastal oceans. This is our third bottle cap installation, and each one continues to impress!

A huge THANK YOU to our students, staff, and volunteers who helped bring this project to life. Maize Central Elementary rocks because of YOU!

Our first grade classes went camping—right inside the classroom! ⛺️✨

Last Friday, all of our 1st graders transformed their rooms into cozy campsites, complete with creative signs, desk forts, and lots of imagination. It was a day full of fun, teamwork, and adventure as students worked together to build their own little “camps.”

We love seeing learning come to life in such a fun and memorable way! 🏕️💛

Mrs. Courtney Merseal’s kindergarten class got colorful and creative as they tie-dyed their t-shirts for their trip to the Sedgwick County Zoo! 🌈🦁

With the help of amazing classroom volunteers, our little artists worked outside to twist, tie, and dye their shirts into bright, one-of-a-kind masterpieces. Laughter, smiles, and splashes of color were everywhere!

We LOVED seeing them proudly wear their creations on their zoo adventure—what a fun way to get excited for a WILD day of learning! 🐾🎨

Our kindergarteners had a WILD time at the Sedgwick County Zoo on their field trip last week! 🐾 From towering giraffes to playful monkeys, our little learners explored, discovered, and asked amazing questions all day long.

There’s nothing better than seeing their faces light up as they connect classroom learning to real-life adventures. We’re so proud of how respectful, curious, and excited they were throughout the trip—way to show that Mustang PRIDE! 🐘💛

Join us for Spring Stampede

The Maize Central Elementary School Spring Stampede is back and promises to be an evening full of fun for the whole family!

Join us on Tuesday, April 28, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for an exciting event packed with activities that elementary students will love. There will be:

Inflatables to bounce and play on.
Delicious options from local food trucks.
A petting zoo to meet some adorable animals.
Plenty of other surprises along the way!
It’s a great opportunity for families to come together, enjoy the spring weather, and celebrate our amazing school community.

We hope to see you there for a night of laughter, fun, and memories!

The Maize USD 266 Wellness Committee is excited to kick off an April Wellness Challenge with a focus on physical activity and movement!

This challenge is all about getting students moving each day. It doesn’t have to be long or intense. Walks, bike rides, playing outside, dancing, sports, or even stretching all count!

The goal is simple: 👉 Do something active every day this week.
