While most of the community was staying warm inside, this incredible maintenance team was outside doing the hard work that makes a safe return to school possible.

On Sunday, January 25th, and again early Monday morning, January 26th, the USD 265-Facilities, Maintenance & Operations staff were out across the district clearing snow from parking lots, driveways, sidewalks, and entrances, ensuring school buildings are safe and accessible for students, staff, and families.

These moments from USD 265-Clark Davidson Elementary School, USD 265-Discovery Intermediate School, and USD 265-Challenger Intermediate School are a snapshot of the pride, grit, and dedication behind the scenes. Snow storms do not stop this team from showing up, problem solving, and taking care of our schools.

This week, USD 265-Goddard Public Schools observed Red Ribbon Week, the largest and oldest drug prevention awareness program!

🔹Students were encouraged to live a healthy, drug-free life.

🔹USD 265-Eisenhower Middle School held a door decorating contest, organized by Officer Malcom, to make the living drug-free message engaging.

🔹Officers conducted D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Lessons at USD 265-Amelia Earhart Elementary. These short, age-appropriate sessions are designed to equip children with knowledge and decision-making skills.

𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐃.𝐀.𝐑.𝐄. 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚 𝟓𝐭𝐡-𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦? Our D.A.R.E. officers are actively engaging with our youngest students, including 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐭 USD 265-Amelia Earhart Elementary, with age-appropriate lessons!

We believe in building a foundation for healthy choices early. For our 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬, this means focusing on personal safety and the proper use of medicines. For our 𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬, we introduce important concepts like peer pressure and good decision-making skills.

USD 265-Goddard Public Schools is offering a FREE D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program this winter. Taught exclusively by Goddard USD 265 Law Enforcement Officers, this after-school program provides vital skills need to navigate challenging situations and make positive choices.

𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣:
🔹Responsible decision making using the D.A.R.E. Decision-Making Model.
🔹Practical Resistance strategies like REAL (Refuse, Explain, Avoid, Leave).
🔹How to handle risk and consequences.

Who: 7th and 8th Grade Students
When: January 13th-February 11th, 2026, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 3:00PM to 4:00 PM

The Goddard Public Schools Police Department is proud to continue serving the students, staff, and families of USD 265 with a renewed emphasis on visibility, consistency, and connection. This year, families may notice that district police vehicles are now fully marked, carrying a design originally created by recent Goddard Public Schools graduate Taylor Harrington. Officers will also be wearing standardized uniforms across the district, ensuring that our school community can easily recognize them as trusted and approachable members of the .

“Our department’s mission goes beyond safety—it’s about building relationships,” said Chief of Police Joe Camp. “We want every student, staff member, and parent to feel confident and comfortable when they see our officers in uniform or our marked vehicles around schools. We’re here not just to respond when needed, but to be a positive, everyday presence in our schools.”

At times, families may see multiple police cars parked outside a school building. Chief Camp explained that this is not a cause for alarm. “More often than not, it simply means our officers are inside a school engaging with students, meeting with staff, or supporting a special event,” he said. “We are regularly invited into classrooms, assemblies, and activities because we want students to see us as part of their school community, not just law enforcement.”

The USD 265 Police Department remains dedicated to protecting the district while fostering a culture of trust and care. Join us in giving a warm welcome to our two newest police officers for USD 265-Goddard Public Schools, Wyatt Pulver and Justin Malcom! They were officially sworn in yesterday.

Both officers bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our department, including previous experience as School Resource Officers (SROs). We are thrilled to have them on board and know they will be a great asset to our team and community.

We're incredibly proud of Officer Lamar (or "Donut 🍩," as he doesn't mind being called!). A big shoutout and thank you to Lisa Hogarth at USD 265-Goddard Middle School for nominating him and for recognizing all the outstanding work he does for USD 265-Goddard Public Schools!
