Join us for the 32nd Annual WPS JROTC Leadership Salute to Veterans at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 6, inside the Aetna Gymnasium at WSU Koch Arena, where more than 450 JROTC students will stand in formation for a review of the troops — a moving display of discipline, pride, and purpose. The 2026 WPS bond strengthens our workforce with investments in the Career and Technical Education programs at Wichita West High, Wichita Northwest High School, Wichita HS South and Wichita Heights High School, allowing more students to experience unique opportunities in more places.

Getting students Future Ready looks different than it did three decades ago. From woodworking and welding to a new Law Enforcement pathway, these bond projects honor our community's strong support for CTE programs. Wichita Public School students have unmatched opportunities as they bridge their education and careers with hands-on trainings, certifications, and access to industry professionals.

You may have seen some Vote No campaign materials that focus on our district’s English Language Arts reading data.

While some of the materials focus only on scores through 2024, the district’s most recent results tell a more complete story.

In 2026, more than 30% of students met proficiency standards, the highest rate our district has seen since 2015, and we’re not done making gains.

As part of the WPS bond, Black Traditional Magnet Elementary USD 259 would be rebuilt at the Gateway Alternative Program site on W. 15th Street.

A new school would offer modern learning spaces for students, avoid disruptions during construction and allow OK Elementary to be repurposed as an Early Childhood Center.

Through our partnership with Textron Aviation, Wichita Public Schools students at the FutureReady Center for Manufacturing gain real-world experience through internships while exploring careers in machining, sheet metal, aerospace engineering and more.

These opportunities help students build skills, earn technical certificates and prepare for life after graduation, whether that path leads directly to a career or continued education.

The upcoming bond election would allow us to build on this success by adding another FutureReady Center focused on construction trades, creating even more pathways for students to discover their passions and prepare for high-demand careers.
