The Sedgwick County Health Department recognizes International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31.

Overdose can affect anyone: friends, family members, coworkers, neighbors and people across Sedgwick County. Knowing how to recognize an overdose and respond can save a life.

Naloxone can reverse an opioid overdose when given in time. Community members are encouraged to carry naloxone, learn the signs of an overdose and call 911 immediately if they believe someone may be experiencing an overdose.

Overdose is everyone’s crisis. Carry naloxone. Know what to do.

You may see this message on billboards throughout Sedgwick County this month.

The Sedgwick County Health Department wishes everyone a happy National Dog Day! Dogs are an important part of many Sedgwick County families, and summer is a great reminder to keep pets safe, healthy and comfortable.

Residents can help protect their dogs by providing plenty of fresh water, limiting time outside during extreme heat, keeping pets up to date on vaccinations and making sure dogs are properly licensed and identified.

The Sedgwick County Animal Control team also helps keep pets and people safe by responding to animal-related concerns in unincorporated Sedgwick County.

Celebrate National Dog Day by giving your dog some extra love — and by helping keep them safe this summer. Visit www.schd.online/Pet-Resources
