Kansas African American Affairs Commission (KAAAC) to Host Congressional District 4 Community Town Hall & Resource Fair in Wichita on May 30, 2026
WICHITA, KS β The Kansas African American Affairs Commission (KAAAC) will host a Congressional District 4 Community Town Hall & Resource Fair on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Carl G. Brewer Community Center, 1329 E. 16th St N, Wichita, KS 67214.
Doors will open at 10:00 AM for a Community Resource Fair featuring organizations providing information and services.
The Community Town Hall will begin at 11:00 A.M.

This event is about creating a space where Black Kansans in Congressional District 4 can be heard and can help set the direction for our work going forward." Angeline F. Confirmed participants to date for the Community Resource Fair include: Aetna, City National Bank & Trust, Clearway Testing, Common Ground Producers and Growers, Cure Violence, Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF), GraceMed Health Clinic, HealthCore Clinic, ICT Tenants Union, Kansas Department of Health & Environment (KDHE), League of Women Voters - Wichita Metro, Our Child Lives Ministry, City of Wichita Park & Recreation, Restoration Family Services, Sedgwick County Democratic Party, The Voter Network, Urban League of Kansas / Project Access, Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center (WASAC), Wichita Children's Home, Wichita Documenters, Wichita Branch NAACP, Wichita Medical Research and Education Foundation, Wichita Public Library, and others to be added.
We will also serve as a "Data Walk" host in partnership with the Kansas Health Foundation and Kansas Health Institute. Data Walks are interactive, participant-driven opportunities for community members to explore data using large-format posters that cover health, policy, and economic issues.
The Community Town Hall will be hosted by Congressional District 4 KAAAC Commissioner Angeline F. Johnson who also serves as Chair of the Commission. This event will provide a community learning and listening space while also providing opportunity to elevate the voices, priorities, and solutions of Black Kansans across Congressional District 4. Topics include: KAAAC Overview and Statewide Context, Panel Discussion: The Distinctive Roles of City, County, State, and Federal Government, The Power and Importance of our Vote β Congressional District 4, and an Open Community Listening Session. Confirmed participants to date include: Wichita Mayor Lily Wu β Wichita District 1 Councilman Joseph Shepard β Sedgwick County Commissioner Ryan Baty β Tom Stolz, Sedgwick County Manager β State Senator Oletha Faust-Goudeau β Stacey Knoell, Executive Director, KAAAC β Pastor Pamela Hughes Mason, St. Paul AME Church β Wendo Kimori, The Voter Network β Angeline F. Johnson, Congressional District 4 Representative and KAAAC Chair. KAAAC is inviting and encouraging residents from across the district (which includes those residing in the following counties: Butler, Chautauqua, Cherokee, Cowley, Elk, Harvey, Kingman, Montgomery, Sedgwick, and Sumner) to attend.
