The first time I stepped on a yoga mat I just turned 19. I was a college athlete searching for the yin to my yang life. Yoga was a happy marriage of both and I felt like I was home. I discovered my body and calmed my mind. I have practice in almost every stage of life. As a young fit adult, through marriage, through divorce, through finding my self, to finding my soul mate, through marriage (again), through pregnancy, through postpartum, through trying to get pregnant, through financial hardships and even on vacation, through the chaotic life of my children and my family, through my lows and my highs; Yoga has always been there for me. My practice has looked different at every stage of life. From pure fire, to just practicing mindfulness. Yoga has always been there. The relationship I have with my body and mind have never been so strong and it took me a long time to get here. No ego, just being; happy and content. Yoga helped me navigate through a lot of s**t. Yoga saved me from depressions, anxiety, loneliness. Yoga helped me let go of my need to control every outcome, situation and every thing. That’s why I teach. The simple answer is to practice. There is no right or wrong way, just practice. And through your practice all will come.
If you’re still looking up to the stars and not realizing the magic is right here, in front of you then you haven’t learned anything from your yoga. Keep practicing. it’s okay if you’re not ready to let go of control but yoga will be here still when you are. Ready to accept you as you are. As you truly are.
