There will be a Monday With(Out) Mueser demonstration in Williamsport too! Monday June 1 outside Lycoming County Courthouse. Noon to 1pm.
MONDAY, JUNE 1: HUNDREDS FROM ALL 12 COUNTIES IN PA'S 9TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT TO HOLD COORDINATED, SIMULTANEOUS PEACEFUL PROTESTS
JOIN US THIS MONDAY, JUNE 1, from 12-1 PM outside the Lebanon County Courthouse, as peaceful protesters from all 12 counties in PA's 9th Congressional District will gather simultaneously to voice their grievances with Rep. Dan Meuser. Organizers are calling this mass protest a “Multi-County Monday With(out) Meuser" to honor Lebanon County’s 60-plus consecutive weekly protests to insist that Rep. Meuser meet with his constituents in a town hall-style setting, which he still has not done.
From the Lebanon County Courthouse to Bradford County on the New York State line, hundreds of Meuser’s constituents will air their hopes and grievances through signs, chants, and speeches in public spaces and outside Meuser’s four district offices in Pottsville, Hamburg, Lebanon, and Tunkhannock. Some protests will take place in public parks or other public spaces, but the intent is the same: to protest Meuser's failure to do his job, which includes meeting with and meeting the needs of his constituents.
“It’s not about politics, it’s about the issues” said Deborah Miller, Chair ICE OUT UPPER BERN, a non-partisan group of local citizens opposing the proposed ICE detention center in northern Berks County. “We’d really like to have answers from Dan Meuser who admittedly has been working with The Department of Homeland Security to pave the way for the two ICE detention centers now sited within the 9th District. It’s frustrating that he was scheduled to speak at the Upper Bern Township Supervisors’ April meeting but cancelled and has not re-scheduled. Perhaps he’ll hear us now.” Countless phone calls, post cards, letters and texts to Meuser with concerns about these facilities have gone unanswered.
Here in Lebanon County, our local grassroots citizens’ group Mondays With Meuser has staged more than 60 weekly protests outside Rep. Meuser’s district office in the county courthouse since March 2025. “We began our weekly peaceable assemblies by insisting that Rep. Meuser hold a public town hall-style meeting with his constituents,” said Michael Schroeder, co-organizer of the Lebanon protests. “That’s an essential part of the job of any elected public official: to meet with your constituents and listen to their concerns. After a few months, our demands expanded to include an even more essential job requirement: that he adhere to his oath of office to support and defend the Constitution, something he has manifestly failed to do. As Chair of the Subcommittee on Oversight & Investigations of the Financial Services Committee, Rep. Meuser should be conducting hearings and investigations into the many corrupt and unconstitutional actions of this administration. Instead he serves as one of its chief enablers and cheerleaders. As we approach the 250th anniversary of our Republic’s founding, I imagine that James Madison and other Founders would be turning over in their graves if they saw House members like Dan Meuser so cravenly abandon their fundamental responsibility to serve as a check on the power of the executive branch and hold the president accountable.”
Pennsylvania's 9th Congressional District encompasses all of Bradford, Columbia, Lebanon, Montour, Northumberland, Schuylkill, Sullivan, Susquehanna, and Wyoming counties, as well as parts of Berks, Luzerne, and Lycoming counties. Meuser’s constituents from all 12 counties will be participating in this district-wide event. Join us Monday at 12 noon for this historic event!
