This is the true reason why we are here at Amherst Township VFW Post 416. We had a message left for a veteran who needed assistance with their benefits. At the Post level we can only guide them on the right path. In talking to them they were given names, telephone numbers of peo or organizations that can help them out. These are the people who do this full time and can be of assistance and an asset to the veteran.
The person I talked with asked also about joining the Post but sadly they weren’t eligible. But what was mentioned were other wonderful Veteran Service Organizations and where they are that this veteran could join.
This right here is a part of what we do. If we can’t do it ourselves then we can guide this veteran to people who can. It is called serving.....

Happy Easter to my Officers and members of Amherst Township VFW Post 416. Many blessings to you and your families!

Had a great time at the Farmers Market at the Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village. No snow, no rain but a lot of fun ! Thank you Wayne and John for being there! We had a lot of people stop by and chat and got over 50 dollars for our Buddy Poppy fund which helps out veterans in the hospital. Also had a great vendor who gave us some pastries which we truly enjoyed!!
We want the public to know that we are here for our fellow veterans and who we are and what we do!

Dear Post 416 Comrades, My name is Warren Hunt. I live in Michigan, and am a life member of both the VFW and the VVA (Chapter 35, Toledo, Ohio). I am also a retired active duty Army E-7, beginning with service in Vietnam in 68-69 with the First Infantry Division. In 2018 I published a memoir, “Reflections on the Vietnam War: A Fifty-Year Journey,” an overview of what the Vietnam Era looked like to me. It covers the span of time from when I was in high school, through my Army service in Nam, culminating with my attendance at the dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. in 1982. The book is available at amazon.com in paperback as well as Kindle format. A link to my book’s website is attached here: www.facebook.com/rvw50. This memoir has been included by Bowling Green State University and Lourdes University as part of the reading list for their classes on the Vietnam War. In addition, it has received positive reviews from well-known literary publications, including Manhattan Book Review, Publishers Weekly/Book Life, and the VVA Veteran: Books in Review (Henry Zeybel). In April of 2018 an excerpt from my book appeared in a special commemorative issue of USA Today: “Echoes from Vietnam.” “Reflections on the Vietnam War: A Fifty-Year Journey” has been well-received by readers; including Vietnam veterans and their family members. Many non-veterans, especially younger people, have also found it enlightening as an aid to gaining a broader perspective on the Vietnam War era. I am now in the process of sharing my work with local veterans organizations; not to make money, but because I have been told I should share it by so many people who find it an inspiring and informative read. Best wishes to your post members for a safe and pleasant summer. Sincerely, Warren Hunt Vietnam 68-69
