🌙 Celebrating 40 Years of the Moonlight Run! 🌙
During last night’s Village Board meeting, Mayor Christine Hunt officially presented Larry Brownell with a proclamation recognizing his 40 years of dedication to the Moonlight Run and the Williamsville community.

For four decades, Larry has helped make this beloved event a Williamsville tradition—bringing more than 1,000 people together each year while raising thousands of dollars for important causes.

Larry was surrounded by Village Board members, friends, and family as we celebrated this incredible milestone and the lasting impact of his dedication and vision.

Congratulations, Larry, and thank you for 40 amazing years of the Moonlight Run! 🏃‍♀️🌙🏃‍♂️

🌿 Spring Street Bioswales: A Late-Summer Bloom Update! 🌼
What a difference a summer makes! After months of planting, laying leaf litter, mulching, watering, and plenty of weeding, the Spring Street bioswales are rewarding us with gorgeous late-summer blooms—and keeping our pollinators very happy. 🐝🦋
Looking for native plants that bring vibrant color to your garden in July and August? Take a look at these beauties:
🌱Partridge Pea — cheerful yellow blooms and delicate leaves
🌱 Swamp Milkweed — rosy pink flowers and a favorite of monarchs
🌱Pearly Everlasting — rounded white bracts with silvery-sage foliage
🌱Sneezeweed — bright, sunny yellow blooms
🌱 Cardinal Flower — stunning red flowers that demand attention
🌱 Butterfly W**d — signature orange blooms and another monarch favorite
The bioswales are a great reminder that native plants can bring color, beauty, and life to our community while also helping support pollinators. 🌱
A big thank-you to everyone who has helped nurture these beds throughout the summer. There’s been a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes—and it’s wonderful to see it blooming!

🌳 Glen Park Update
The Village of Williamsville is continuing its work to protect and preserve the natural beauty of Glen Park. We’re pleased to share an update from ECOS Cooperative on the Tree of Heaven abatement project now underway in the park.
This important project is addressing one of our most problematic invasive species and will help protect the native plants, wildlife, and the Ellicott Creek corridor for years to come.
You may notice crews and temporary work areas in the park over the next several weeks. Please give them plenty of space and leave marked trees undisturbed.
We’re grateful to ECOS Cooperative and the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation for helping the Village take this important step toward a healthier Glen Park. 🌿

♻️ RECYCLE YOUR STYROFOAM THE RIGHT WAY!
Styrofoam may be lightweight, but it can have a big impact on our environment when it is not disposed of properly. Expanded polystyrene takes up valuable space in landfills and can easily break into small pieces that persist in the environment.
That’s why proper recycling is so important! Styrofoam is not accepted in our regular curbside recycling program, but it can be recycled through specialized programs like this upcoming collection event.
Before you bring your materials, please make sure they are clean, free of tape, labels and other materials, and prepared according to the guidelines on the flyer. Every effort to recycle properly helps keep reusable materials out of the landfill and gives them a second life.

📅 Sunday, September 13 | 9 AM–Noon
📍 Arc Erie County NY Offices, 30 Wilson Road, Williamsville

Please check the flyer carefully to see what is accepted and not accepted. Let’s do our part to reduce waste—one piece of foam at a time! 💚♻️

The Village of Williamsville Arts, Culture & Diversity Committee invites the community to enjoy a special Music on Main performance featuring Rhythman on Thursday, August 20th, in the Volunteer Garden next to Village Hall.

Rhythman is the musical project of “The Waz” David Wasik, an early childhood educator, literacy advocate and founder of the nonprofit Create A Minibook. For more than a decade, Wasik has shared his passion for creativity and community engagement throughout Western New York and now brings that same energy to the stage through a fun, interactive musical experience for all ages.

The performance will take audiences on a musical journey through rhythms and percussion traditions from cultures around the world. Featuring a variety of percussion instruments, shakers and plenty of opportunities for audience participation, Rhythman promises an energetic evening filled with music, movement and fun!
