Amherst Highway Superintendent Patrick Lucey is announcing that the Town Highway Department scheduled 60 roads for paving in 2022 which equates to over 20 lane miles. This is an increase over past years that was made possible by increased New York State funding and the Amherst Town Board.
Some of the roads to be paved are Andover, Birdsong Cir., Boundbrook Ct., Brian Ave., Britannia Dr., Dann, Emerald, Exeter, Ironwood, Jack, Knollwood, Laurel, Lemay Ct., Pinebrook, Quantico, Renaissance, Rollingwood, Teakwood.
This is only a partial list of roads, external factors such as weather conditions and the rising cost of fuel and asphalt will determine how many roads can be completed.
Amherst Highway Dept. is looking to hire seasonal workers to work for/up to a maximum of 5 months. Please stop by the Amherst Highway Dept. between 8am and 2pm Monday thru Friday to fill out an application.

Starting April 1 residents can put out yard compost materials on their regular collection day for pick up by Modern Disposal. The material must be properly bundled (in 5 foot sections not weighing more than 60 lbs) and or packaged for pickup.
Leaves, small trimmings and other yard waste should be put in containers, paper yard waste bags or bundled for collection (NO YARDWASTE IN PLASTIC BAGS) on a weekly basis and will be collected by Modern Disposal.
The Town Highway will consider collection of large unmanageable piles of logs, brush (cut to less than 8 feet in length), and tree stumps. No mixed piles containing lumber, concrete, railroad ties or non-organic materials will be collected. Residents must call Refuse at 631-7119 so a Refuse Control Officer can come out and access the request.
Town of Amherst residents are allowed to dump their yard waste at the C.J. Krantz Recycle Center on Smith Rd free of charge during the facilities working hours. Rules for dumping and hours of operation are determined by the Compost Facility.
