Message from Scout Executive, Rich McCartney: It is with mixed feelings that I announce the resignation of Rob Gilkerson, as Director of Field Service. His last day in the office will be Thursday, April 14, 2023. He is pursuing a new career as Senior Staff Accountant with CHI St. Alexius in Bismarck, ND.
Rob began his career with the Boy Scouts of America in Kansas City as a District Executive in the Heart of America Council in June of 2002. After three years, he went to Pontiac, Michigan where he served as a District Director for two and a half years before leaving the Scouting profession to serve as Administrator of Operations for two large churches, first in Michigan and later in Kansas City.
Rob rejoined the Scouting profession as a Senior District Executive in the Heart of America Council for a short time before becoming a District Director. In 2015, He joined the Cornhusker Council in Lincoln, Nebraska as the Field Director. Then in October of 2018 he moved to Bismarck to be the Northern Lights Council Asst. Director of field service. In August of 2020 Rob was promoted to Director of Field Service where he has served with distinction for the past 2 years.

During his 16 years as a BSA professional Rob has excelled in every position and made a tremendous contribution to the Boy Scouts of America, truly living up to the Eagle Charge that he took as a youth to “… take upon (himself) the obligations … of the rank of Eagle Scout…to do (his) best to make (his) training an example, (his) rank and (his) influence count strongly for better Scouting and for better citizenship…in (his) community; and in (his) contacts with other people.” To this (he) pledged (his) sacred honor. “
We wish Rob, Carrie, Baden, Ella, and Abra the very best as they embark on this new chapter in their lives!
