Our community has a very giving heart and always is quick to assist those in need, especially during the Christmas season. Recently we have been so inundated with clothing donations at our shelter that we are currently up to our elbows in items that need to be sorted and shelved. Isn’t this a wonderful problem! 😊 Because we are so busy with trying to put away what we have so generously been given, we are asking that no more clothing donations be given until further notice. Thank you, Williston area, for always being so faithful to help us. Merry Christmas to you all.

We would like to send out a huge thank you to the anonymous person who donated the microwave, hot chocolate and marshmallows. Those staying in the crisis shelter will enjoy this so much during the cold winter months, that are closer than we think. It means a lot to everyone that there are so many thoughtful people who think about individuals in crisis and want to help any way they can. Our microwave has been out of commission for a month or longer so it was great to see that it was replaced. Thank you again and God bless.

The Family Crisis Shelter (FCS) is a 24-hour, 7 day-a-week, crisis intervention program for victims and families of domestic violence and sexual assault. We serve a tri-county area of northwestern North Dakota which includes Williams, McKenzie and Divide counties, and we offer safe refuge for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, & human trafficking. The tri-county area served by the Family Crisis Shelter is a rural region covering approximately 11,000 square miles in northwestern North Dakota. FCS is the only shelter within a 130-mile radius to specifically assist survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

The coronavirus pandemic is overwhelming, and one of the most excruciating parts for many people is the feeling of utter helplessness in the face of widespread suffering and hardship. While we are actively assisting families and individuals who have been impacted by this pandemic, we need your help to make our efforts go even further.

Family Crisis Shelter safely houses individuals that are trying to flee the physical, emotional, psychological, financial abuse, and the control they endure by their abusers. Domestic violence effects the entire community, and that is why we are asking for your help………

You can help us house individuals and families who are experiencing violence and homelessness or assist us with relocating them to safety with their loved ones. If you are in a position to be able to donate to our greatly needed service, we would appreciate your help more than we can say. Partnering with community members such as yourself is tremendously needed in order for us to achieve our mission during this trying time.
Family Crisis Shelter would like to thank you in advance for your contribution. Your donation will go toward assisting victims of violence in our communities as well as support us in our efforts to combat homelessness. We are profoundly grateful to our donors, many of whom have supported us for numerous years. Your contributions do more than just fund our programs and services. Your gift makes an immediate, daily difference in the lives of violence survivors. You assist us in so much more than offering safety. You partner with us to give survivors and their families the opportunity to begin healing, both physically and emotionally so they can initiate the move forward with their lives. Your contributions make it possible for us to say: “You are not alone; Family Crisis Shelter is here for you.”

If you chose to link arms with us, please make your donation check payable to Family Crisis Shelter. We can be reached by phone at (701) 572-0757 and our address is as follows:

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Gate City Bank in Williston for their generous donation of $1,000.00 to the Family Crisis Shelter. Thank you so much for thinking about our program, it means so much to us. As you know we are able to keep our doors open solely through state funding, government grants and much appreciated donations such as yours.
Our agency serves survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking as well as their children. We offer safe shelter; overnight hotel stays and cover travel expenses needed for relocation when a survivor chooses to return to their family in another state, as well as clothing, food, and basic needs.
We want you to know how grateful we are; without caring individuals like yourself who are willing to partner with us, our program would not be able to run as efficiently as we do.
And thank you for the awesome cookies too! 😀

We would like to extend a very big THANK YOU to each and every Highway Patrol Officer, Williams County Sheriff’s Dept., and Williston Police Dept., and all those in the community who gave so generously to the toy drive law enforcement held at Walmart last week!

The Christmas season is an especially heartbreaking time for families to find themselves dealing with domestic violence. This is a select group of community members that nobody wants to be a part of at any time of the year, but to have your world suddenly turned upside down at Christmas is particularly hard.
We see the uncertainty and fear on the faces of the children during a beautiful season that should have them giggling and excitedly talking about what they hope Santa will leave under their tree.

The enormous generosity of warm-hearted individuals like yourself make a huge difference for these little ones. Your wonderful gifts will help to put a big smile on their faces and turn what would have been a dark memory from their childhood into a sweet one. To a child, something as simple as gifts under the tree means that someone loves them and they are important and not forgotten.

There is simply no way that we can financially cover the cost of gifts for the large number of families whom we serve without the greatly appreciated support from members of our community like yourselves.

Because of our work, our shelter staff has an intimate knowledge of how crucial, and at times life-saving your assistance is when an individual has been a victim of domestic violence. We so greatly appreciate and value your service to our community and do not always have the opportunity to say thank you.

We realize all too well that you choose daily to selflessly put yourselves in harm’s way in order to keep all of us safe. So today we say thank you, not only for your generous gift but also for your immeasurable service to the families of our community.

I'd like to share a rather unusual and free resource...parenting tips bumper stickers! Advancing Parenting, a Camarillo, CA nonprofit, produces parenting tips bumper stickers and makes them available at no cost to schools, businesses, organizations, clinics, and individuals. There are fifty-one in a set and each bumper sticker communicates a parenting behavior or practice generally recognized as supporting the healthy development of children. Just one will be read thousands of times! Bumper stickers are a unique and powerful way to educate everyone about parenting and prevent child abuse five, ten, twenty, fifty years down the road. At stoplights drivers and passengers point, smile, and nod. Conversations begin and often a phone is used to take a photo of the sticker right at the stoplight. Presumably, they are being shared on social media. It's wonderful to see! Sets of the stickers can be put in holders and placed on counters and tables so folks can select one or more for their cars. Visit www.advancingparenting.org to request this free resource. Use a computer...our website is not optimized for phones. Please share.

A HUGE THANK YOU to Renee Rongen for speaking with women and teens around the importance of loving ourselves just the way God made us and not to take societal views on who we should be to seriously!! The Lipstick, Laughter, and Love event was just what my soul needed! The only cost of admission was to bring a pair of women's or children's pajamas which were then to be dispersed to local crisis shelters to provide comfort for women and children of domestic violence. In total we raised over 350 pairs that were then donated to surrounding areas in Minnesota and North Dakota. I was blessed enough to be able to bring over 50 pairs to my hometown of Williston ND and support Williams County Social Services and the Family Crisis Shelter! Let me tell you the ladies that I met that work there are truly inspirational and have and heart of gold! #soblessed #thriventrepforlife #inspired #howdidiendupsolucky
