Today Dennis Martin, from Community Employment Services, won the Employee of the Quarter award for Deepwood Industries. Dennis works at Council on Aging, Bar Athletics and Stakes Mfg. Dennis is very detailed and always helps out at his work sites, going beyond what is expected of him. This morning Council on Aging celebrated with us. Congrats Dennis! A job well done.

The Pieces of Imagination Dog Treat business allows individuals with Autism to be creative, learn new skills such as mixing, cooking and packaging.
The dog treats are all made in-house from natural ingredients, made by our individuals with Autism and packaged and sold to the community.

Deepwood Industries, Community Employment Services has added a new group employment site and 2 new independent sites. EMI, who we have had a long relationship with 2 independent people, added a group employment site as well. Two of our individuals work 2 days a week there, sorting, counting, labeling, and reboxing materials. We also added Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Willoughby and Lake County Council on Aging as independent cleaning sites. Dennis Martin, who also works at Stakes Mfg and Bar Athletics, wanted to take on these jobs. Fred Astaire is Monday mornings and Council on Aging is Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Thanks to all our employers who reach out to us, and the companies that refer them.
Jessica Parr who goes by “Lynnie” received the 1st quarter DI Award today at WB. DI Board member Mac Chafer presented (gentleman with red shirt) the award and t-shirt along with Phyllis Hanson. Lynnie’s parents Jeff and Rosa Parr were here as well. Lynnie’s staff Donna Wandel and Kim Johnson nominated Lynnie for this award.

Today was Joe Barzal's birthday and Federal Hose celebrated with not just one, but 2 cakes and ballons, by Joe's request. Chocolate. His favorite. Happy birthday Joe and thanks to Federal Hose for making his day!
Today we were able to celebrate Julie Moore at Stake's Manufacturing for the Deepwood Industries "Employee of the Quarter". We are so proud of all her hard work and dedication. Julie started working at Stakes Aug. 22 of last year, and truly loves independently running a heat transfer press machine She has risen far beyond expectations. Deepwood Industries values the partnership that we have with Stakes Manufacturing and all they do for the individuals we serve.

Even though the weather was not cooperating, so many community members were there to help celebrate the ground breaking of the expansion for Laketran. This expansion will allow for extended hours, more buses and much needed space for currant and new employees. Lake County is blessed to have such a wonderful agency who cares so much about our community and their current and future needs.
