The golf course was designed by Donald Ross in 1926 and is open to the public. The Wilmington Municipal Golf Course was designed by Donald Ross in 1926 to provide the public with a quality, championship 18 hole golf course at affordable prices.

In 1989, the golf course bunkers were restored and renovated to complete the visions Donald J. Ross began in 1926. In 2009, the course was named #50 in Golf Week's list of best municipal golf courses in the country. The golf course recently underwent renovations in 2014 to restore the course to Donald Ross' original design. Construction of the clubhouse improvements are scheduled to start soon. In preparation, construction fencing has been put up and the entrance from Oleander Drive is temporarily closed. Please use Pine Grove Drive to enter the golf course parking lot.

Congratulations to Tanner Norris, our 2020 Wilmington City Amateur champion! He was 5 under for the tournament. He shot 69/68. He won against a very strong field. Tanner is a former member of the Cape Fear Community College golf team.

New Rules re:Golf Cart Use
New rules will be in effect beginning tomorrow regarding the use of golf carts at the Municipal Golf Course. Rules: 1. One rider per cart 2. Two people from the same household can ride in a cart together. (Please provide your license showing same address upon check-in) 3 Golfers are asked to clean out any trash from carts when they are done playing Staff will be on hand to sanitize carts after each use. If you have questions, please call the clubhouse at 791.0558
